Frederique Constant is known to make traditionally expensive watchmaking complications more accessible. Its Manufacture Perpetual Calendar, first introduced in 2016, was a QP priced well below that of many established competitors. In 2025, the watch received an update: a more refined 40mm case and a revised movement, with a power reserve extended to 72 hours. Now, Frederique Constant returns to its flagship model, presenting a new burgundy dial, a more contemporary alternative to the previous salmon version, next to the silver and blue permanent models.

The stainless steel case measures 40mm in diameter and 12.1mm thick. Its rounded bezel, softened lugs, and fluted onion crown make it look like a traditional dress watch. A convex sapphire crystal with anti-reflective treatment protects the dial, while a screw-down sapphire caseback reveals the movement. The case remains unchanged from the 2025 generation; water resistance is 50m.

The sunray-brushed burgundy dial is the news. Applied, diamond-cut, nickel-plated indices mark the hours, and polished nickel hands indicate the time. The three calendar subdials feature their own circular decoration. Like with the earlier versions, the indications are arranged for relatively intuitive reading. The day of the week is at 9 o’clock, the date appears at 3, and the month and leap-year indication share a sub-dial at 12 o’clock. At 6 o’clock, a moonphase display features a midnight-blue sky decorated with laser-engraved stars.

The watch is powered by the automatic FC-776, Frederique Constant’s in-house movement that combines the base calibre with a perpetual calendar module. The movement operates at 28,800 vibrations/hour and delivers a 72-hour power reserve, thanks to a redesigned barrel and mainspring alloy. Through the sapphire caseback, the movement reveals traditional Geneva-style finishing, with perlage on the bridges and fan-shaped Côtes de Genève on the automatic winding bridge. The gold-plated oscillating weight features vertical satin-brushed and spiral finishing.

This new burgundy version of the Classic Perpetual Calendar Manufacture is worn on a black alligator leather strap with a square-scale pattern and tone-on-tone stitching, closed with a folding clasp. Limited to 100 pieces, the burgundy edition is priced at CHF 10,295. More information at frederiqueconstant.com.
