Tissot PR516 Chronograph Mechanical Hand-Wound

Whenever we compile lists for our weekly Buying Guide, we tend to look at common denominators between watches. One such element can be colour, material, a complication or even a price point. As suggested by one of our readers, we are now looking at sporty-chic watches on stainless steel bracelets priced under EUR 3,000. After doing some digging, we’ve come up with genuinely surprising watches! Let’s dive straight in.

Nomos Club Sport Neomatik 39

The Nomos Club has long been a success for the Glashütte-based brand for its humble simplicity. But that doesn’t mean it’s a boring one-trick pony, as Nomos has proven the basic design to be quite versatile. The Club Sport Neomatik, for instance, takes the concept in a new direction by adding new sizes, fresh colours and a steel bracelet. Last year, we saw the introduction of a trio of new colours in a new 39mm size. It’s fitted with the in-house produced automatic DUW 3001 Neomatik movement and retails for EUR 2,820 (with closed caseback).

vpc type 37hw

The Type 37HW is the break-out watch by VPC Watches, a new Dutch brand founded by Thomas van Straaten. In his quest for a no-compromise ‘Go Anywhere, Do Anything‘ watch, he took it upon himself to design one from scratch. The result is a very compelling, well-thought-out watch that has a lot going for it. The multi-level frosted dials, the contrasting small seconds sub-dial, and the way the bracelet tucks underneath the bezel are particularly pleasing design elements. For a price of EUR 2,479 excl. VAT it’s also quite fairly priced for what you get!

mido multifort tv big date

The Mido Multifort TV Big Date is a watch that offers a distinct 1970s flair with a reliable movement underneath that also happens to have something not many watches in this range have: a two-disc Big Date indication. Inspired by a watch from the 1970s, the Multifort TV Big Date has a TV-screen-shaped case with a blue textured dial, recessed indices, simple baton-style hands and a movement based on the Powermatic 80 architecture. Alternatively, the bracelet can be swapped out for a rubber strap. It retails for a very fair EUR 1,200.

tissot pr 516 chronograph mechanical

If you’re looking for a full steel watch in this price range but ideally want a mechanical chronograph, the Tissot PR 516 Chronograph Mechanical is a very good option for you. It revamps the classic racing chronograph style of the original from the 1970s yet in a modern 41mm case size fitted with a manually wound chronograph movement. The price of EUR 1,975 means the new PR 516 offers quite good value for money, something we’ve grown accustomed to when it comes to Tissot’s watches.

yema superman cmm.20

Despite the fact the Yema Superman is a tool-oriented dive watch, it’s rather sleek and stylish at the same time. The design of this Superman Slim CMM.20, the latest in a long line of heritage-inspired watches by Yema based on the original, is quite subtle for a diver. The 39mm case, relatively narrow bezel, unique locking system, distinct scale-style steel bracelet design and clear black or blue dials make it a good alternative for those wanting a not-so-bulky watch ready for an aquatic lifestyle. It also doesn’t hurt that it has an in-house developed micro-rotor movement and a very reasonable price tag of EUR 2,490.
