The New Parmigiani Tonda PF Micro-Rotor No Date

Now that it's not there, it feels like it's missing.

Putting jokes aside, Parmigiani Fleurier has unveiled a captivating addition to its Tonda PF Micro-Rotor collection: the Tonda PF Micro-Rotor No Date. Featuring a Grain d’Orge Golden Siena dial devoid of a date function; this timepiece exudes a strikingly pure aesthetic bound to captivate enthusiasts.

Measuring 40mm in diameter and 45.6mm lug-to-lug, with a thickness of 7.8mm, the stainless steel case with a platinum knurled bezel and teardrop lugs maintains the familiar design shared across the series. The case and the integrated steel bracelet boast a harmonious blend of polished and satin-brushed finishes. The screw-down 4.3mm fluted crown resides at its customary position at 3 o’clock. Topping the dial is an ARunic anti-reflective sapphire, while the caseback features a sapphire glass window. The watch has a water resistance of 100m.

The grain d’orge rose engine-engraved guilloché dial is exemplary in purity and finesse. Its colour is a “shade with moiré effects directly inspired by the rich ‘sienna’ palette” and celebrates” the subtle nuances and natural beauty of the earth”. While described as such, in reality, the dial exudes a subtle salmon hue, adding to its exceptional allure.

Hand-applied rhodium-plated indices grace the outer edge of the guilloché, juxtaposed against the recessed and minimalist minutes chapter ring, the latter creating a striking contrast against the intricate dial pattern. The Parmigiani Fleurier logo, the sole extra adornment on the dial, is positioned above the skeletonized, delta-shaped rhodium-plated gold central hour and minute hands. Thus, the wearer enjoys an uninterrupted view of the dial’s exemplary purity and finesse.

Regarding timekeeping, there are no surprises here – the Tonda PF Micro-Rotor No Date edition houses the tried-and-tested PF703 movement. Remarkably slim at just 3.07mm, this movement features a platinum 950 oscillating weight. Operating at a frequency of 21,600 vibrations/hour, the Calibre PF703 has a 48-hour power reserve. The movement is meticulously decorated, showcasing beautifully curved bridges, Côtes de Genève, perlage, and polished bevels. Adding to the movement’s aesthetic appeal, the micro-rotor is adorned with the intricate grain d’orge guilloché pattern, tying in with the dial.

Priced at CHF 23,500, the new Tonda PF Micro-Rotor No Date is a testament to Parmigiani Fleurier’s commitment to horological excellence – and shrewd market sense.
