The New De Bethune DB25 Perpetual Sky
An evolutionary, compact perpetual calendar that presents De Bethune’s technical and visual signatures in a stunning form.
The De Bethune DB25 line has long served as the brand’s classical counterpoint, a collection where its most traditional complications are expressed through a very distinctive design. Since the first DB25QP appeared in 2011, the perpetual calendar complication has evolved through multiple iterations. Among the recent releases were the richly coloured green model with guilloché décor in 44mm (2021) and the two-tone blue-and-silver 40mm version unveiled in 2022, both fitted with the automatic calibre DB2324. The latter, along with the compact DB25xs Starry Varius (2025), established a new aesthetic chapter for the collection with slimmer profiles, tighter diameters and mesmerising sky displays, all while maintaining the technical substance that distinguishes De Bethune’s pieces.
The new DB25 Perpetual Sky is the next step in De Bethune’s evolution. By merging the perpetual calendar with the brand´s signature celestial dial, the Perpetual Sky consolidates the design introduced by the recent DB25 models and reaffirms the brand’s commitment to technical refinement, material expertise and exceptional finishing.
The new DB25 Perpetual Sky is made from polished grade 5 titanium and measures 40mm across and 11.3mm high, just like the 2022 version. The drum profile remains; the lugs are integrated and hollowed to reduce weight and improve wrist comfort. Sapphire crystals with double anti-reflective treatment protect both sides. The crown sits at 3 o´clock and correctors are discreetly integrated into the caseband; three pushers control the calendar adjustments. Water-resistance is 30m. A laser-engraved titanium caseback allows a view of the movement.
The perpetual calendar indications are laid out on a multi-level structured dial. A blued, flat-polished titanium sky forms the upper plane and is populated with hand-fitted white gold star pins; the Milky Way is laser-micromilled and inlaid with 24-carat gold leaf (bespoke personalisation of the sky is possible). A silver-toned hours ring with Roman numerals frames the sky, with the minutes track running the outermost edge. Day and month appear in rectangular apertures at 9 and 3 o’clock; date is shown on a subdial at 6 o’clock. The moon phase at 12 o’clock uses De Bethune’s patented palladium/blued-steel sphere, and the leap year indicator is right below. Time is read with hand-curved, mirror-polished yellow gold hands.
The DB25 Perpetual Sky is powered by a DB2005 hand-wound calibre, built and finished in De Bethune’s workshops and comprising 339 components. It features a self-regulating twin barrel that delivers a five-day power reserve, a titanium balance wheel with white gold inserts, De Bethune’s patented balance spring with a flat terminal curve and a silicon escape wheel. The spherical moon mechanism is patented and accurate to one lunar day every 122 years. The calibre incorporates a triple pare-chute shock-absorbing system and is finished with polished titanium cover plates, mirror-polished barrel bridges and hand-snailed barrels.
Each De Bethune DB25 Perpetual Sky is assembled and finished by hand; production is limited by the throughput of the Manufacture’s ateliers and released in small annual batches. The watch is worn on an extra-supple alligator strap with a titanium pin buckle. Price is CHF 125,000 (excl. taxes). More information at debethune.ch.
