The latest creation of the indie watchmaker from the Vallée de Joux brings a vivid orange dial to the distinctive carbon-and-titanium architecture of the DC6.
Since the launch of his eponymous Le Solliat-based brand in 2017, David Candaux has developed his own visual and mechanical language, offering highly technical movements and an unusual case construction and display. The DC6, introduced after his first creation, the DC1, established many of the elements that have become signatures of the brand: a basin-shaped case, a retractable Magic Crown at 6 o’clock, a 30-degree-inclined flying tourbillon, and a manually wound titanium movement.
The DC6 first appeared in titanium and, more recently, as the DC6 Night Forest, unveiled in March 2026. The model introduced a UD carbon alongside titanium and a dark topaz-green dial inspired by the forests surrounding Candaux’s workshop. Now comes the DC6 Wildfire, with an intense orange dial, its colour concept inspired by the fleeting moment when first rays of sunlight reach the ridge, and the tops of the spruce trees appear to burn orange before the light spreads across the landscape.
The case measures 45mm in diameter and 11.29mm thick, retaining the characteristic DC6 basin-shaped construction. The familiar silhouette hides a sophisticated combination of materials. The movement is housed in a titanium chamber that provides structural integrity and water resistance, while the bezel, middle case, and caseback are clad in UD (unidirectional) carbon. Unlike the distributed carbon fragments, UD carbon consists of continuous fibres arranged in successive layers. Titanium stretchers run the full length of the case and extend into the lugs, securing the construction mechanically without adhesives. The curved side lugs are microblasted, satin-finished and hand-polished. Despite the dimensions, the combination of materials keeps the watch weight at 45 grams.
The DC6’s distinctive layout is unchanged. Two sapphire domes cover the principal attractions, with the hours and minutes at 3 o’clock and the flying tourbillon at 9 o’clock. At 12 o’clock sits the power-reserve indication. The retractable Magic Crown remains at 6 o’clock.
The semi-spherical titanium hour-and-minute dial is decorated with a hand-finished sunburst pattern before being anodised in a vivid bright orange. Unlike the Night Forest, which used a smoked treatment to create a darkening effect around the perimeter, the Wildfire keeps the orange at full force across the entire surface. Black numerals and markers contrast with the orange background, and there’s a graduated minute track around the perimeter. The two titanium plates carrying Candaux’s Pointes du Risoux guilloché remain in place. At 12 o’clock, the power-reserve display features the brand’s Le Cœur et l’Esprit motto.
The second sapphire dome reveals the single-axis flying tourbillon inclined at 30 degrees. The tourbillon’s inclination exposes the regulating organ to more positions as the watch moves on the wrist. It completes one revolution every 60 seconds and incorporates the small-seconds indication. For the Wildfire, the cage is made in blue anodised titanium; it comprises 29 components and weighs 0.35 grams.
The watch is powered by the in-house, hand-wound H74 movement developed and assembled by Candaux in Le Solliat. The calibre measures 35mm by 6.2mm and consists of 287 components, including 47 jewels. As with the case, titanium is central, forming the bridges and mainplate. The movement is inclined by 3 degrees relative to the case and features cascading bridges finished with hand-polished bevels, mirror-polished inward angles, straight graining, pearling and Candaux’s Côtes du Solliat decoration. The gear train uses beryllium-copper wheels with stainless-steel axles, pinions, pins and screws.
The regulator features a 10mm variable-inertia balance with gold adjustment screws and a Phillips terminal-curve hairspring. The movement beats at 21,600 vibrations/hour and provides a 55-hour power reserve through two fast-rotating coaxial barrels coupled in series.
