Atelier Wen's high-end Inflection meets the vintage-inspired design language of Massena LAB in a 50-piece limited edition.
The Atelier Wen Inflection collection (2025) marked an important step up for the brand, with its complex, fully curved case, an integrated bracelet made almost entirely from tantalum, high-end dials, and a customised movement supplied by Girard-Perregaux. For Geneva Watch Days 2026, Atelier Wen has partnered with New York-based creative studio Massena LAB on a special edition named Shuo, meaning “sparkling” or “radiant,” featuring elaborate, solid-gold, hand-decorated dials.
The collaborative watch’s Inflection case measures 40mm in diameter, with a compact 45mm lug-to-lug and a slim 10.2mm profile, including the crystal. Tantalum is prized for its dark bluish-grey colour, remarkable density and resistance to corrosion, but it is notoriously difficult to machine and finish. Here, the challenge is heightened by the design as the Inflection is built around curves, with a concave bezel, a ridged mid-case and a smoothly integrated bracelet inspired by Chinese architectural forms. The White Gold version is fitted with a tantalum crown, while the Rose Gold version receives a solid rose gold crown. Both feature double-domed sapphire crystals on the front and back, each with five layers of anti-reflective coating, and 100m of water resistance.
The Shuo dials are produced by GT Cadrans in Switzerland and hand-finished by specialist engraver Coralie Mercier. The white gold base plate is decorated with hand tremblage, with the resulting texture unpredictably catching the light and producing the sparkling effect reflected in the name Shuo.
A radially brushed gold chapter ring is placed over the tremblage base. On one version, it is executed entirely in white gold; on the other, the sector is crafted in rose gold. The California-style layout is quite distinctive, with custom Arabic numerals in the upper half, and hand-calligraphed Chinese numerals filling the lower sector. The numerals are filled in blue, matching the blued hour, minutes and seconds hands. The outer ring, also with hand tremblage, is framed by a finely engraved huiwen pattern, a classic Chinese decorative motif.
The Atelier Wen x Massena LAB Inflection Shuo is powered by a customised version of the Girard-Perregaux calibre GP03300. As with the standard Inflection, the movement has been extensively reworked, with bridges shaped around sweeping curves inspired by wind motifs in historical Chinese paintings. The dark grey ruthenium bridges with anglage feature laser-etched waved stripes radiating from the centre. The custom rotor is made to follow the same flowing theme and is plated in 5N rose gold. The self-winding calibre runs at 28,800 vibrations/hour and delivers approximately 48 hours of power reserve. It is adjusted to five positions and temperature and includes a hacking seconds mechanism.
The watch is fitted with the integrated tantalum bracelet, with brushed external links and polished central links. It incorporates a patent-pending four-position on-the-fly micro-adjustment system, a telescopic deployant blade and a quick-release mechanism.
The Atelier Wen x Massena LAB Inflection Shuo is limited to 50 pieces. 10 White Gold models are reserved for established clients of either brand, and 40 Rose Gold editions are available to the public.
