The same adventurous GMT Dive watch, but now with a Seiko movement, and a price that makes this one hard to ignore.
It looks like Charlie Paris has been updating its catalogue one collection at a time. It was only recently that it refreshed the Alliance line-up with new sapphire-dial models, and now the French brand takes up the Concordia. This collection in the past has delivered the blacked-out Concordia Automatic Kraken, as well as the original Concordia GMT from 2023, and the latter now returns with several updates; all for good. These include new dial colours, revised hour markers that are all circular now, a new date-window position, and most importantly, a new Japanese movement that helps bring the price down.
These updates are not changing the basic idea of the Concordia GMT, which is still that excellent adventure-themed dive watch coupled with a GMT function for tracking a second time zone. Like the previous version, it uses an office-like GMT, with the central 24-hour hand independently adjustable. The new case now measures 40.5mm in diameter and 11.75mm thick (excluding the crystal) compared with 40mm and 12.5mm on the previous model. Its lug-to-lug is still 47.5mm.
Water-resistant to 300 metres, the steel case now comes with a double-domed sapphire crystal, replacing the domed crystal of the previous model, while the back features a flat sapphire exhibition caseback. Then there is the bezel that is unidirectional, with an anodised aluminium insert and a 60-minute scale for tracking dive time, along with a lumed 12 o’clock pip.
The dials come in five colours and finishes. Tundra gets a textured snow-white dial, Antarctic Blue is simply blue, while the Black version gets a black dial. Burgundy has a smoked burgundy dial, and Sage gets a smoked green dial. These dials feature a two-tone flange with a 24-hour scale, used to track the second time zone and provide a day/night indication. Its two-tone flange varies in colour with each version, from black and white on Tundra and blue and white on Antarctic Blue to black and mint green on Black, black and burgundy on Burgundy, and dark green and mint green on Sage.
The previous Concordia GMT used the Swiss Soprod C125, while the updated model switches to the Japanese-made Seiko NH34. This is a well-established automatic GMT movement for watches at this price point, running at 21,600 vibrations/hour with a 41-hour power reserve. The change to the NH34 is a major reason why Charlie Paris can offer the new Concordia GMT at a much lower price.
These watches come on a steel bracelet and can also be paired with rubber, nylon, and leather straps. The new Charlie Paris Concordia GMT starts at EUR 645, or EUR 695 with the steel bracelet. That is a substantial drop from the previous model, which started at EUR 1,195 on nylon and EUR 1,245 on steel.
