Girard-Perregaux released the Laureato collection in 1975 to meet the growing demand for integrated-style sports watches. Debuting just three years after the 1972 blueprint for the genre, it remains one of the earliest examples of a luxury sports watch. Following the classic time-and-date Laureato Fifty released to celebrate the watch’s 50th anniversary in 2025, Girard-Perregaux introduced a limited edition that merged its emblematic sports watch with another iconic element of its past, the three gold bridges. Now, the Laureato Fifty Three Gold Bridges is back in the permanent collection, with new rose gold accents on the dial.

Compared with last year’s limited edition presented during Dubai Watch Week, the technical side hasn’t changed much. The original recipe of the Laureato Fifty Three Gold Bridges remains the same, but with an extra touch of warmth on the dial. This new edition is made mainly of stainless steel (case middle and caseback), with a design in line with the evolution of the classic time-and-date Laureato Fifty collection. The signature barrel-shaped case retains its sporty dimensions: 41mm in diameter and 10.85mm thick, with a combination of vertically brushed surfaces and polished lateral bevels. On top, and framing the sapphire crystal, is the emblematic octagonal bezel, here made of white gold. An interesting evolution compared to the limited edition model, the water-resistance has been increased from 30m to 50m.

Most of what has changed in this new, non-limited version of the Laureato Fifty Three Gold Bridges is visible on the dial. The overall architecture relies on an emblematic GP design feature first seen in 1867 on a pocket watch, later popularised by the La Esmeralda: the Tourbillon with Three Gold Bridges. The highly graphic, symmetrical layout of the movement – barrel and micro-rotor on top, gear train and hands in the middle, tourbillon at 6 o’clock, with three horizontal bridges holding them together – is reinterpreted in a modern way, thanks to the Neo Bridges design. The openworked construction implies impressive finishing, involving no fewer than 418 hand-polished bevels and 362 inner angles across the entire movement.

The new elements add the warmth of rose gold, replacing the original model’s entirely monochromatic style. The angled inner flange, still circular and brushed, now features applied rose gold markers filled with Super-LumiNova, while the hands, identical in design, now also use the same warm metal. The final touch comes from the three Neo Bridges, now made in rose gold instead of white gold.

Under the sapphire caseback is the in-house calibre GP9620, a spectacular movement in both construction and finishing. This openworked calibre not only features a one-minute tourbillon at 6 o’clock but also a cleverly integrated automatic winding system at 12 o’clock. Indeed, a platinum micro-rotor sits underneath the barrel, providing energy for 55 hours. The three-gold-bridge design is also repeated on the back of what is an unmistakably GP movement. The lyre-shaped tourbillon cage (another GP signature) is crafted in lightweight titanium and is given a small hand to signal the running seconds. The vertical alignment creates an unparalleled symmetry.

Worn on a stainless steel bracelet with a micro-adjustment system (a 4mm comfort release), the Girard-Perragaux Laureato Fifty Three Gold Bridges with rose gold accents is now released as part of the permanent collection. It retains the same price as the limited edition of 2025: EUR 178,000, CHF 162,000, or USD 182,000. For more details, please visit www.girard-perregaux.com.
