Bulgari’s Aluminium collection erupted on the scene in 1998. Fusing design elements from earlier models like the 1975 Bvlgari Bvlgari with the twice-emblazoned brand name on the gold bezel, the slick Aluminium with its bold mix of lightweight aluminium and rubber accents was a runaway success. Making its much-awaited comeback in 2020 during Geneva Watch Days, the sporty chic Aluminium was redesigned with more contemporary dimensions, increased water resistance and mechanical automatic movements. For the latest edition of GWD 2025, Bulgari proposes a powerful alliance of bronze and black rubber with the handsome Bronzo GMT and the Bronzo Chronograph.

The combination of warm bronze and black rubber is striking and endows the models with an imposing presence. Marking the first time bronze is used in the collection, the case and bracelet links of the two Bronzo models are crafted in sandblasted bronze that will develop a unique patina over time. There are some design tweaks to remark on the chronograph, like the removal of the inscription ‘Aluminium’ on the dial and the incorporation of a tachymeter scale.

The Bulgari Bronzo GMT

Introduced in 2021, the GMT model is a practical complication for travellers. The 40mm Bronzo GMT flaunts a lean profile of 9.7mm and has a depth rating of 100 metres. The bronze case, with its contemporary sandblasted finish, is fitted with a titanium crown and caseback with a black DLC treatment.

Legibility is enhanced thanks to the bold, highly graphic dial with a black varnished background and white inscriptions. Unlike earlier GMT models, the two-tone 24-hour scale is not featured. Instead, the sloping GMT scale features white Arabic even numerals and square luminescent plots. The arrow-shaped GMT hand, made of rose gold-plated brass, is also filled with Super-LumiNova. Impossible to miss, the signature oversized 12 and 6 o’clock numerals are white and accompanied by bold white indices and a date window with a black background at 3 o’clock. The gold-plated and sandblasted brass hour, minute and seconds hands are also treated with Super-LumiNova.

Hidden beneath the black DLC titanium is the calibre B192, based on a classic Sellita SW330 beating at 28,800vph and delivering a 50-hour power reserve. As always with this movement, it’s the GMT hand that is adjusted by one-hour increments with the crown, and not the local-time hour hand. The Bronzo GMT retails for CHF 4,390 or EUR 5,200.

The Bulgari Bronzo Chronograph

The bronze 41mm chronograph has a thickness of 12.35mm and black DLC-coated titanium crown, pushers and caseback. Apart from the handsome marriage of warm bronze and black rubber, the novelty here is the incorporation of a sporty tachymeter scale on the black dial and thicker, gold-coated and sandblasted bronze hands to match the case – all treated with SLN.  As always, the date window at 4:30 will have its detractors, but it is colour-matched to the dial and discreet.

The watch is powered by the calibre B381, based on a Sellita SW300 movement with a Dubois-Depraz chronograph module. Operating at 28,800vph, the movement has a 42-hour power reserve and drives a classic tri-compax chronograph with date. The Bronzo Chronograph has a price tag of CHF 5,450 or EUR 6,500.

Both Bronzo models are paired with black rubber straps with articulated sandblasted bronze links and buckle with a hook and loop system. More information at bulgari.com.
