Yema Drops the Skin Diver Slim Bronze CMM.20 Limited Edition
A vintage-inspired bronze diver, an elegant evolution of the brand´s most iconic series, powered by Yema’s micro-rotor calibre.
The resurgence of French brand Yema over the past few years has been marked by a steady, successful effort to refine its heritage designs and by its commitment to in-house watchmaking. Founded in 1948 in Morteau, France, the brand built its reputation through tool watches like the Superman and Skin Diver of the 1960s, watches that became symbols of French diving culture. Following the release of the Limited Skin Diver Slim CMM.20 in stainless steel and its permanent collection counterparts, Yema now brings its micro-rotor movement to a bronze case with the new Skin Diver Slim Bronze CMM.20 Limited Edition.
The 39mm bronze case with brushed surfaces and polished bevels measures 10mm in thickness and has a 47mm lug-to-lug, so it remains sleek and comfortable, and offers the warmth and patina-prone charm that have made other bronze Yema divers fans’ favourites. The Skin Diver Slim Bronze stands out with its faded ghost sapphire bezel, a nod to aged bakelite bezels of mid-century divers. It features a unidirectional 0-60 scale and a lumed dot at 12 o´clock. The watch is fitted with a sizeable screw-down crown (no guard) and sapphire exhibition caseback, and boasts 300m water-resistance.
The faded ghost bezel complements the dark grey enamel-like dial base perfectly. The dial design remains familiar: large triangular hour markers (with Arabic numerals at cardinal positions) are filled with lime-toned Super-LumiNova and outlined in gilt (IP Bronze), matching the case’s tones. The oversized arrow minute hand, pencil-style hour hand, and lollipop seconds hand provide legibility while adding to Yema’s retro aesthetic.
As the name indicates, the watch is powered by the calibre Manufacture Morteau 20 (CMM.20), a proprietary micro-rotor automatic movement developed in France and designed in collaboration with Swiss watchmaker Olivier Mory. Only 3.7mm thick, this ultra-slim calibre allows for the watch’s compact dimensions while offering an impressive 70-hour power reserve from a single barrel. It is equipped with a bidirectional tungsten micro-rotor and operates at 28,800 vibrations/hour with chronometer-level accuracy of -3/+7 seconds per day.
The Skin Diver Slim Bronze is delivered on an FKM Viton rubber strap, closed with a bronze pin buckle that will age consistently with the case. It is a limited edition of 200 pieces, priced at EUR 2,249. Yema also releases a green-toned, non-limited Skin Diver Slim Bronze CMM.20, paired with a green FKM strap; the price and specifications are identical, except for the white numerals on the bezel and white lume on the dial.

Not buying any other Yema until I can check their AR coating progress in the metal, too often press pictures are taken at angles that suggest clear sapphires when too often the reality is quite different.
