Vyntage Horology is the brand created by the Seddiqi family, long regarded as the most influential retailers in the Gulf; Ahmed Seddiqi has just celebrated 75 years in business. They are also organisers of Dubai Watch Week, which has become the beating heart of independent watchmaking in the region. After decades of promoting Swiss watchmaking excellence, the Seddiqis have leveraged their expertise to create a new watch series that seamlessly blends Swiss craftsmanship with Emirati sensibility.

Vyntage Horology’s premiere watch was the Monograph (2023), a hand-wound monopusher chronograph. It was followed by the minimalist Purity collection, featuring its distinctive four o’clock crown. A notable release was the Purity Tantonyx, a limited edition timepiece crafted from tantalum and black onyx, and equipped with a manually wound La Joux-Perret calibre. With the Strata, Vyntage Horology enters the most competitive arena in modern watchmaking: the integrated-luxury-sports-watch category. Without the archives to dive into, Strata filters the genre to its essence: proportion, comfort, and quality, in titanium.

The Strata comes in a 40mm cushion-shaped case, crafted from Grade 5 titanium and topped with a flat sapphire crystal featuring AR coating on both sides. A pleasant aspect of the watch is its overall thinness, as the profile is measured at 8.92mm. Despite its refined appearance, the Strata is designed for daily wear. It has the robustness of a true sports watch yet feels light, fluid, and slim, balancing athletic ergonomics and elegance. The brushed and polished surfaces are part of the brief, and the bevels catch the light nicely. A screw-down crown contributes to the comfortable 100m water resistance.

The burgundy “Diamond Tessellation” dial radiates, and its pattern, a series of geometric engravings, allows the metallic red tone to change with every movement of the wrist. The faceted indices and polished, silvered ozenge hands, filled with Super-LumiNova LN C1 X2 GL, stand out in contrast against the deep dial surface. A framed window at 3 o’clock with a colour-matched date disc integrates perfectly into the layout.

The sapphire caseback reveals the Vyntage Calibre VHM-3.01, supplied by Vaucher Manufacture Fleurier. This micro-rotor automatic movement operates at 21,600 vibrations/hour (or 3Hz) and provides 48 hours of autonomy. The finishing includes laser-engraved and rhodium-plated bridges with hand-bevelled edges, and decoration on the tungsten rotor.

The integrated bracelet of the Vyntage Horology Strata has a micro-extension clasp to ensure comfort in all conditions, and for versatility, a rubber strap option is available, offered with a titanium-covered folding buckle. You’ll note that the package is complete, with the presence of a quick-release system on the back.

Available at Ahmed Seddiqi boutiques, as well as onthe brand’s website, the Vyntage Horology Strata is priced at AED 69,000 (approximately EUR 16,100 at the time of publication). For more information, please visit vyntage.com.

  1. It is not very nice and for me it is way over priced, I can’t see anything that justifies more than 4k.

  2. Agree with Gonzalo and Stu: for this money I would pick Parmigiani Fleurier’s Tonda 1950 or Hermes’ Slim d Hermes Automatic, both also using Vaucher’s VHM and with small seconds subdials as nice add-ons.
