When it comes to complications, Vacheron Constantin is a veritable Titan in the arena and has earned its rightful place in the pantheon of high complications. Celebrating its grand 270th anniversary this year, Vacheron has outdone itself in 2025. Following the release of the world’s most complicated pocket watch last year, Vacheron Constantin has pulled out all the stops with the release of the Solaria, a record-breaking wristwatch featuring 41 complications. As the year draws to a close, Vacheron unveils a trilogy of one-off watches from its Les Cabinotiers workshop. As part of La Quête (quest) 270th-anniversary series inspired by astronomical observation, these fascinating complications are embellished with métiers d’art flourishes.

Les Cabinotiers Armillary Tourbillon Myth of Pleiades

The myth of Pleiades refers to the Seven Sisters of Greek mythology, transformed into stars in the constellation of Taurus and a vital navigation beacon for sailors of yore. Inspired by the star atlas of Johannes Hevelius (1611-1687), the 20mm-thick flanks of the pink gold case are hand-engraved in bas-relief (450 hours) with lifelike scenes from Greek mythology and set with diamonds representing the stars. First seen inside the Armillary ref. 57260, the impressive calibre 1990 powers a biretrograde display of hours and minutes on the right side of the dial and a fascinating bi-axial armillary tourbillon on the left.

The closed blue dial hosts the perpetual calendar, the sky in the Northern Hemisphere reproducing the movement of the constellations according to sidereal time, a second time zone with day/night counters for local and home time and a city display. Flip it over and the openworked dial reveals the skeletonised mechanical heart, true solar time, a running equation of time, sunrise/sunset times and the age and phases of the Moon. To complete the smorgasbord, the watch is also packed with a minute repeater and a tourbillon regulator. Seeing is believing…
