A precious new case for Urwerk’s kinetic satellite display, bringing the technically radical and sculptural UR-150 into yellow gold.
First presented as the Scorpion in Titan and Dark executions, and subsequently followed by the Blue Scorpion, the UR-150 by Urwerk now receives its most precious treatment yet. The UR-150 Golden Scorpion replaces the technical cool of its predecessors with a radiant 2N yellow-gold case.
The case retains the curved, ergonomic construction of the UR-150 series, measuring 42.5mm wide, 51mm long and 14.8mm thick. The upper surface and flanks are sandblasted, microbead-blasted and satin-finished. A domed sapphire crystal reveals the display, while the Grade 5 titanium caseback is finished in black PVD. The screw-down crown contributes to 50m water resistance.
The signature display remains. Three satellites rotate on a central flying carousel, with the active hour shown within the retrograde minutes hand that travels across a 240-degree arc. At the end of each hour, the hand returns to its starting point in just one hundredth of a second, and the satellites simultaneously turn for the next hour.
The Golden Scorpion is powered by the automatic UR-50.01 calibre (Vaucher base automatic movement with in-house display module on top), regulated by a double-turbine winding system. The movement is built with 38 jewels, beats at 28,800 vibrations per hour and provides a 43-hour power reserve. A dedicated speed regulator controls the forces involved in the rapid retrograde return, an approach inspired by mechanisms traditionally associated with minute repeaters.
The movement combines aluminium satellite hours with a brass flying carousel finished in 3N gold PVD. The aluminium retrograde hand is finely sandblasted and satin-finished, while the wheels are produced using LIGA technology. The brass rotor is sandblasted and circular-grained, and Grade 5 titanium screw heads are flat-polished. Super-LumiNova is applied to the hour and minute markers, the flying carousel, and the counterweight hand.
The UR-150 Golden Scorpion is worn on an adjustable high-performance hybrid rubber strap closed with a folding clasp. Limited to 25 pieces, it is priced at CHF 105,000, excluding taxes. For more details, visit urwerk.com.
