Introducing – Ulysse Nardin Diver Chronograph Monaco Limited Edition
Monaco… The French Riviera, the pleasant weather, James Bond, the sea, the Casino, the luxurious cars and nice ladies! Certainly one of the most attractive places to spend some relaxed time. And above all, there are the super-yachts. Now, if you ask me what would be the watch that best defines this world, I’d easily say a Ulysse Nardin. In fact, i’m not that far from the truth and as a proof, here is a new limited edition, the Ulysse Nardin Diver Chronograph Monaco, which celebrates the collaboration of the brand with the Monaco Yacht Show. Overview.
The Monaco Yacht Show, one of the main events in the world of luxury yachting
Ulysse Nardin a nautical history as profound as the oceans, with over 170 years of creating Marine Chronometers. The timekeeping instruments of this Swiss watchmaker have been guiding sailors with superior precision for many decades. It seems a natural extension of that history for the manufacture to become official sponsor of the Monaco Yacht Show, an honor it has held for the last eight years. For this reason, it seems natural for Ulysse Nardin to commemorate this partnership, with a new limited edition, based on the Diver Chronograph – that you can discover here, in a previous article, with the Hammerhead Shark Edition.
The Monaco Limited Edition of the Ulysse Nardin Diver Chronograph is based on the same case and movement, however this time wrapped in different colors, with specific dial and inscriptions. Clothed in the red and blue shared by other Monaco Limited Edition timepieces, the Diver Chronograph commemorates the event with a minute counter showing the heraldic pattern of the Principality of Monaco, also present on the sapphire crystal case back. The dial has a specific texture, with diamonds in dark blue on a lighter blue plate. Finally, the hands also recall the flag of Monaco, with white paint and a red line.
The Ulysse Nardin Diver Chronograph Monaco, as well as all the other editions, is a very robust watch, which clearly screams its functions. It features a stainless steel case measuring 44mm in diameter, water resistant to 300m, with a uni-directional bezel (with a saw profile and a dark blue rubber insert with wave pattern, just to recall the origins of this watch) and screwed pushers and crown. All of that clearly participate to the dive-watch atmosphere and allows this watch to be qualified as a luxurious tool. Legibility and functionality are also emphasized on the dial, with large and readable hands and indexes, and a tri-compax layout for the chronograph – 30-minute counter at 3, in red and larger than the other indications, 12-hour counter at 6 and discreet small second at 9.
Inside the case of the Ulysse Nardin Diver Chronograph Monaco ticks the brand’s own chronograph movement, an automatic, integrated, column-wheel driven calibre. It features a silicon escapement that ticks at a modern 4Hz frequency and boasts a comfortable 48-hour power reserve. This Calibre UN-150, which also serves as a base for the annual calendar, is visible through the case back, just to offer to the wearer its nice finishings.
The Ulysse Nardin Diver Chronograph Monaco is delivered on a solid stainless steel bracelet with folding clasp, which like the case, alternates between polished and brushed surfaces. It will be an edition limited to 100 pieces. www.ulysse-nardin.com.
