The New Worldtimer Watches of Patek Philippe for 2022
A fresh take on Patek Philippe classics
With a history spanning over 80 years (and the famous Cottier watches), Worldtimers are among Patek Philippe’s most popular complications. Patek was the brand to bring back this type of watches in 2000 with the launch of the 5110. The 5110 was replaced in 2006 by the 5130, itself replaced by the 5230 in 2016. On the occasion of Watches and Wonders 2022, the travel watch collection welcomes three new interpretations of existing models.
The Blue Guilloche Platinum 5230P-001
For the first time, Patek Philippe is interpreting the emblematic 5230 in a platinum case combined with a blue dial and strap. The dial center is adorned with a new circular hand-guilloche motif. Inside the watch is the fine and well-known Calibre 240HU (HU= Heure Universelle). This 27.50mm automatic movement features an off-center 22K gold micro-rotor, allowing a height below 3.9mm. It runs at 3Hz with 48 hours of power reserve.
Quick facts: 38.5mm x 10.23mm platinum case – self-winding caliber 240 HU, World Time, 24-hour and day/night indication for all 24 time zones – blue, hand-guilloche with circular pattern, gold applied hour markers – sapphire-crystal case back- water resistant to 30m – hand-stitched calfskin strap – fold over clasp – CHF 60,000
The Cloisonné enamel white gold 5231G-001
The 5231 is the 5230’s sibling fitted with enamel dials, and as such, perpetuates another great Patek Philippe tradition that goes back to Louis Cottier in the 1930s. The new version presented on the occasion of Watches and Wonders 2022 comes in white gold with a cloisonné enamel dial depicting South-East Asia and Oceania.
Quick facts: 38.5mm x 10.23mm white gold case – self-winding caliber 240 HU, World Time, 24-hour and day/night indication for all 24 time zones – grand Feu cloisonné enamel center: Oceania and South-East Asia, 4 gold spangles – sapphire-crystal case back- water resistant to 30m – hand-stitched alligator strap – fold over clasp – CHF 75,000
The Rose Gold with Diamonds 7130R-014
The third worldtimer presented by Patek Philippe is a new reference 7130 (the Patek ladies’ worldtimer). The model is reinterpreted with a green livery paired with a rose gold case whose bezel is adorned with 62 diamonds. The dial features a hand-guilloched basketweave motif whose distinctive shade is picked up on the city disk and 24-hour ring.
