The new Gerald Charles Maestro 4.0 Ducati 30th Anniversario 916
GC teams up with the Italian motorcycle manufacturer, and pays tribute to one of the most classic modern bikes.
Gerald Charles, a brand founded by the legendary watch designer Gérald Genta in 2000, has made a convincing comeback under Federico Ziviani’s leadership. The revival began in 2020 with the reintroduction of a distinctive 2006 Genta design, the unique Maestro Anniversary case, paired with a moulded rubber strap. Several iterations of the Maestro have been introduced over the past few years, showcasing various materials, movements and even an integrated bracelet with the Masterlink. However, the brand’s latest model truly stands out among the recent offerings. Presented in partnership with Ducati to commemorate the 30th anniversary of the iconic 916 motorcycle, this limited-edition watch is bolder than ever with its forged carbon case and proprietary jumping hour mechanism.
Introduced in 1994, the Ducati 916, is a legendary sportbike renowned for its striking design and exceptional performance. Designed by Massimo Tamburini, it features a distinctive under-seat exhaust, single-sided swingarm, and aggressive styling. The 916 quickly became an icon in motorcycle history, winning multiple World Superbike Championships and earning a place as one of the most influential motorcycles of all time.
If the case of the Gerald Charles Maestro 4.0 Ducati 30° Anniversario 916 retains the distinctive Maestro design, the materials used make it look sportier than ever – a fitting choice for this Ducati edition. It is made of black, marbled forged carbon with a matt ceramic bezel, a titanium case back and a titanium crown. The proportions are pretty close to that of the brand’s chronograph at 39mm width x 41.90mm length x 11.15mm thickness.
This black case is paired with a multi-layered dial whose centre part echoes the Ducati 916 wheel while revealing the jumping hour mechanism. The outer part of the dial is rendered in black with a minute track and GC logo in white decalque.
The watch is powered by the automatic calibre GCA 3002JH for which Gerald Charles developed a proprietary jumping hour module (a very genta-esque complication). The base movement is made with Vaucher Manufacture Fleurier, which has been the regular movement partner for Gerald Charles over the past few years. It runs at 4Hz and boasts a 50h power reserve. Visible via the exhibition case back, its bridges are decorated with colimaçon, Côtes de Genève and perlage. The openworked central rotor features the Gerald Charles “honeycomb” motif.
The Gerald Charles Maestro 4.0 Ducati 30° Anniversario 916 comes on a ruby red vulcanised rubber with an embossed Clous de Paris pattern. The buckle is in polished titanium. The watch is released in a limited edition of 250 pieces and its price is set at EUR 37,200.
