The New Bulgari BVS100 Lady Solotempo Automatic Debuts inside the Iconic Serpenti

Bulgari’s new automatic calibre adds horological value to the brand’s beloved Serpenti - and other women’s watches in the future.

Watch season officially opens with the LVMH Watch Week 2025. Originally scheduled to take place in Los Angeles from January 21 to 24, the devastating wildfires have led to the cancellation of the physical event. However, the launches are underway from LVMH’s stable of brands, including Bulgari, which comes with exciting news about its new, more versatile and practical Lady Solotempo BVS100 mechanical automatic calibre fitted inside the iconic Serpenti Seduttori and Serpenti Tubogas references.

While much horological attention has been eclipsed by Bulgari’s record-breaking ultra-thin Octo Finissimo calibres, mechanical movements designed specifically for women’s watches are gaining traction. Two years ago, Bulgari created a miniature mechanical marvel called the Piccolissimo. With its diminutive 12.3mm diameter and 2.5mm thickness, this manual-winding calibre was given a royal welcome and featured inside stunning high-jewellery Serpenti Misteriosi Secret Watch models. With no stem for the crown, the Piccolissimo needs to be wound and set on the bidirectional crown on the caseback. Looking at Bulgari’s current lineup, the only Serpenti models equipped with mechanical movements are the high-jewellery Serpenti Misteriosi secret watches and the teeny-weeny tourbillon movement of the high-jewellery Serpenti Seduttori – the smallest tourbillon movement on the market designed to fit inside the unusual contours of the Serpenti.

Lady Solotempo BVS100

Introducing automatic movements to a broader (and more accessible) range of women’s watches, the new Lady Solotempo BVS100 is round and has a diameter of 19mm and a thickness of 3.90mm. Drawing on Bulgari’s experience developing the Solotempo BVL191 automatic, the wafer-thin Finissimo calibres, and the ultra-compact BVL150 Tourbillon, the new time-only movement took three years to develop and produce at Bulgari’s state-of-the-art manufacture in Le Sentier. Weighing just 5 grams yet delivering an impressive 50-hour power reserve, the Lady Solotempo slips seamlessly into the Serpenti’s head but will be used for other women’s watch collections. Interestingly, the new BVS100 automatic will be available to other LVMH watch brands and manufactured by Zenith in the future.

The first recipients of the new movement belong to the iconic Serpenti family, Bulgari’s seductive in-house mascot that has been charming women since the late 1940s. Represented by seven 34mm Serpenti Seduttori with hours, minutes and seconds and two 35mm Serpenti Tubogas with hours and minutes, the flagship model is the yellow gold Serpenti Seduttori (ref. 103898). All the Serpenti models powered by the Lady Solotempo BVS100 have transparent sapphire crystal casebacks revealing the new movement and the rotor decorated with stylised serpent scales.

Serpenti Seduttori

The new 34mm Serpenti Seduttori models can be identified by their single-tour bracelet composed of supple hexagonal scales. All the new Serpenti Seduttori references feature the Lady Solotempo BVS100 movement, diamond-set bezels, a transparent caseback, three hands indicating the hours, minutes and seconds and a flexible bracelet with a folding buckle. As mentioned, the Serpenti Seduttori in yellow gold is the official face of the new movement. There are currently seven models to choose from, ranging from the two high jewellery references to everyday stainless steel and two-tone models.

Serpenti Tubogas

The slinky coiling bracelet of the Tubogas accompanied the first Serpenti watch of 1948. Inspired by the humble coiled gas pipe, the Tubogas has become a true Bulgari icon.
