It was also one of the favorite travel destinations of Winston Churchill, the British politician who was always pictured smoking a cigar, preferably those of Cuban origin. The Latin roots of Swiss watch manufacturer Cuervo y Sobrinos shine through in almost the entire portfolio of watches. With collections like the Historiador and Buceador, it’s not only reflected in the name of the model but embedded in the suave design of the case and dials. The Cuervo y Sobrinos Robusto Churchill Limited Edition has a steel and titanium case with alternating polished and satin-finished surfaces. The profile of the case is quite interesting, with the bezel extending down to the lugs for a stepped and curved design. A distinctive feature of all Robusto watches is its crown construction, which is a hinged lever set almost flush in the caseband when not in use. Flip it up, and you can wind or set the watch easily.

The dial is a lovely warm copper-salmon color with a Clou de Paris guilloché pattern. The sword-shaped hour and minute hands are filled with Super-LumiNova, combined with a needle-shaped seconds hand with a red tip. On the bottom, there is a distinctly shaped day and date window.

Powering the Cuervo y Sobrinos Robusto Churchill L.E. is the CYS 5105. This automatic movement is based on the STP 4-13 calibre. It runs at a frequency of 28,800vph (4Hz), has 26 jewels and 44 hours of power reserve. The nicely decorated movement can be seen through the sapphire crystal caseback, with a printed quote in black on the inside: “Attitude is a little thing that makes a big difference”, a famous quote by Winston Churchill.

Only 30 pieces of the Cuervo y Sobrinos Robusto Churchill Limited Edition will be made, retailing for EUR 3,750. For that, you get a humidor-like box and a black alligator leather strap along with the stainless steel and titanium bracelet.
