The Three Coolest TAG Heuer Limited Edition Chronographs of 2020
Now we're talking seriously desirable chronographs...
Chronographs are a long tradition at TAG Heuer and several of the brand’s stopwatches occupy top spots in the list of iconic watches, in particular, models associated with the golden age of motor-racing, such as the Carrera or the Autavia. As the brand celebrates its 160th anniversary this year, TAG Heuer has released several ultra-cool limited edition chronographs that we have put together for you.
TAG Heuer Carrera 160 Years Silver Limited Edition
Presented to celebrate the 160th anniversary of the brand, this vintage model is inspired by an early Carrera 2447 and equipped with the high-grade in-house calibre Heuer 02, an integrated automatic chronograph with column wheel and vertical clutch. This no-nonsense chronograph is presented in a 39mm steel case that looks absolutely fantastic on the wrist. The watch is fitted with a black alligator leather strap with a security folding clasp.
Quick facts: 39mm stainless steel case – 100m water-resistant – calibre Heuer 02, in-house – automatic integrated chronograph, column wheel and vertical clutch – 80h power reserve – alligator strap and folding buckle – limited edition of 1,860 pieces – CHF 6,300
TAG Heuer Carrera 160 Years Montreal Limited Edition
2020 is a Carrera year for TAG Heuer and the brand has pulled off a second vintage-inspired Carrera sharing the same specs as the 160 Years Silver Limited Edition but with multiple dial evolutions, some poached from another Heuer icon, the Montreal. The 39mm case is the same, the engine inside is still the flagship in-house Heuer 02 but the dial swaps the monochromatic look for a colourful, bold attire with 1970s vibes. The watch comes on a blue alligator strap with a steel folding buckle.

TAG Heuer x Fragment Design Calibre Heuer 02 Automatic Chronograph
Following its first collaboration watch with streetwear Fragment Design’s Hiroshi Fujiwara, TAG Heuer presents another ‘Fragment’ limited edition watch with sleek, modern design and minimalist dial. This time, this watch isn’t based on an existing Carrera model; instead, it introduces a new concept for TAG that takes us back to 1970s motor-racing-inspired watches, a new C-shaped case that will be part of the brand’s Formula 1 collection. The caseback is fitted with a red sapphire crystal partially revealing the in-house calibre Heuer 02. Released in a numbered run of 500 pieces, the watch is presented on a steel bracelet.
Quick facts: 44mm stainless steel case – 100m water-resistant – calibre Heuer 02, in-house – automatic integrated chronograph, column wheel and vertical clutch – 80h power reserve – steel bracelet and folding buckle – limited edition of 500 pieces – CHF 6,000

Why does the hour sub dial only have 4, 8 and 12 hour markings.? Odd.
Would not be useful for me.
I’m confused. The picture I’m looking at has a 30-minute counter at 3 o’clock with numbers at 10, 20, and 30. The counter at 9 o’clock has numbers at 3, 6, 9, and 12. It appears to be an hours counter, however the specification on the Tag Heuer site only a mentions “Hours, minutes, seconds chronograph: 1/4 second, 30 minutes counter”. It does not appear to have a continuous running seconds dial. Perhaps the main 1/4 second hand also functions as a running seconds hand. I’ve seen this on quartz analog watch dials, but never on a mechanical watch.
@neil all three watches share the same movement, the automatic Heuer 02 – with a minute counter, hour counter and small ‘sweeping’ seconds at 6. The Fujiwara edition looses this running second functionality to create a two register dial – so hours, minutes + chrono with hours, minutes and seconds (1/4 of a second). Hope this helps. Xavier.
