For LVMH Watch Week 2026 in Milan, TAG Heuer introduces the Carrera Seafarer Chronograph, a contemporary re-edition of one of the brand’s earliest sailing watches. The Seafarer name dates back to 1949, when Heuer created the Solunar and Seafarer models for Abercrombie & Fitch. These were among the first mechanical watches to incorporate tidal information, an idea born from Abercrombie president Walter Haynes and refined by a young Jack Heuer. Following last year’s limited-edition Seafarer x Hodinkee, this new reference, featuring the signature Carrera Glassbox design, a tide indicator complication and powered by the latest-generation TH20-04 automatic calibre, enters the permanent collection.

The 42mm stainless-steel case follows the Carrera’s refined Glassbox architecture, characterised by its domed sapphire crystal and bezel-less design, which maximises legibility. Overall dimensions include a lug-to-lug of 48.6mm and a thickness of 14.4mm. The case alternates between fine-brushed and polished finishes, maintaining the technical look of the Carrera line with an added maritime robustness. At 9 o’clock, a distinct “TIDE” push-button adjusts the rotating tide disc, while standard pushers at 2 and 4 o’clock control the chronograph functions. The case features a screw-down sapphire caseback, engraved with TAG Heuer’s Victory Wreath emblem, and the watch is rated to 100m water resistance.

The champagne opaline dial provides a warm backdrop for the Seafarer’s nautical indications. Its beige flange carries the 60-second and minute scales (in 5-minute segments). The layout features three recessed counters: a 30-minute chronograph register at 3 o’clock, a running seconds subdial, incorporating a date window, at 6, and a tide indicator at 9 with alternating teal-blue and yellow quadrants. These colours pay tribute to the original 1960s Seafarer and to “Intrepid Teal,” a tone inspired by the yacht that won the 1967 America’s Cup. The faceted 18K 3N yellow gold-plated hands are filled with teal Super-LumiNova, ensuring clarity in all lighting conditions. The applied indices and central chronograph seconds hand are gold-plated and polished.

Powering the watch is the in-house calibre TH20-04, a variant of TAG Heuer’s latest generation of integrated automatic chronographs with a column wheel and vertical clutch for a precise pusher feel and smooth engagement. The tide mechanism, calibrated to the lunar cycle, completes one full rotation every 29.53 days. Operating at 28,800 vibrations/hour, the movement provides an 80-hour power reserve, with automatic winding via a rotor shaped like the TAG Heuer shield.

The Carrera Seafarer is offered on TAG Heuer’s seven-row “beads of rice” steel bracelet, an updated interpretation of the brand’s vintage design, with brushed and polished links. An additional beige sports strap with teal lining and a steel folding clasp is included for versatility.

The TAG Heuer Carrera Chronograph Seafarer will be available worldwide from March 2026, and the price is set at CHF 8,300. For more details, visit tagheuer.com.
