Street art hits the wrist – Manufacture Royale ADN Street Art Collection (Photos, Specs and Price)

Manufacture Royale CDN Street Art

After colourful street artist collaborations from Richard Mille and TAG Heuer, independent high-end brand Manufacture Royale has now unveiled its own street art-inspired model. The Manufacture Royale ADN Street Art Collection stands out for its unique architecture, like the rest of the ADN collection, and now adds a dose of colour, ‘dressing up’ its movement. As a result of the graphic design process, and water printing, each one of these bold timepieces is unique.

The Manufacture Royale ADN (DNA in French) Street Art Collection is an evolving spatial architecture. The structure of its movement is based on overlapping squares, now enlivened by striking colors. This angular, colored, external skeleton, frames the parts of the movement underlining the symmetry of the barrel and tourbillon cage at 6 o’clock. This modern construction is animated by the ballet of a one-minute tourbillon whose cage is unusually square.

The water transfer technique to create the graffiti on the movement consists in soaking the bridges in a water bath in which a film with a motif has been placed. Once removed from the bath, the components are rinsed and stabilized. As a result, the pattern is durable and unique for every single piece.

Powering the Manufacture Royale Street Art is the caliber MR10 manufactured in Vallorbe, where the brand is headquartered. This 36mm, manually wound movement, is the tenth from the brand. The balance vibrates at 3 Hz and the balance wheel features adjustment screws. The regulating organ is a one-minute tourbillon, with a rather unusual but very befitting, square cage. The main spring holds enough energy for 108 hours of autonomy. The barrel that houses the main spring, located at 12 o’clock, has a skeletonized cover with a grid pattern.

The MR10 movement is housed in the ADN case (read our article about the Manufacture Royale ADN from Baselworld 2017 here). Crafted in steel, this bold case construction is 46 mm in diameter and comprises no fewer than 67 components. The bezel is held in place by 6 screws, and mobile lugs pivot between brancards (which hug the side of the case) resulting in improved ergonomics. This way it folds around the wrist, and despite the impressive dimensions, it can be worn by men and even women with a smaller wrists and still be very comfortable.

The Manufacture Royale ADN Street Art is paired with a soft rubber or leather strap, and can be closed with a safety folding buckle. Each piece is unique and the design can be personalized upon request. MSRP is CHF 70,000 Swiss Francs.
