The Shell Star collection is one of Delma‘s most recognisable ranges, and includes the Big Date, time-and-date Automatic and Decompression Timer lines. Exploiting the brand’s 1970s designs, the Shell Star has traditionally been defined by bold proportions, most often offered in 44mm steel cases. The new Shell Star 41mm brings a welcome change, following earlier 41mm executions seen in titanium, but for the first time, Delma delivers this more compact watch in stainless steel, making the Shell Star mechanical watch accessible to a broader audience.

The case measures 41mm in diameter, 12.8mm thick, with a lug-to-lug of 47.5mm and features a familiar cushion-shaped design with a sapphire crystal on the front and mineral glass on the back. The smaller diameter and slimmer profile come with improved ergonomics, so the watch sits more naturally on the wrist while retaining the presence expected from a proper diving instrument. For a touch of refinement, the case finish alternates between satin-brushed surfaces and polished bevels. A unidirectional stainless-steel bezel with a luminous marker at 12 o’clock ensures reliable timing. The solid construction and the screw-down crown promise 200m of water resistance.

The dial remains faithful to the Shell Star’s tool-watch concept, with big applied markers and broad hands filled with Super-LumiNova BGW9. The collection introduces fresh colour choices, ranging from classic black and white to more expressive tones such as orange, yellow and light blue, all with a grained pattern. A 3 o’clock date window fits well into the layout.

The new Delma Shell Star 41mm is powered by the Sellita SW200-1, an ETA 2824 alternative, which operates at 28,800 vibrations/hour and delivers a 41-hour power reserve. Along with this automatic version, the brand offers a low-maintenance quartz option with extended battery life.

The Shell Star 41mm is available on either a three-link stainless steel bracelet, closed with a folding clasp, or a rubber strap with colour-matched stitching and a steel pin buckle. Smaller, sharper, and easier to wear, it feels like a natural and necessary evolution of a proven dive watch. Prices start at CHF 1,090 or EUR 1,300 on a bracelet or CHF 1,050 or EUR 1,250 on a strap.

To put things in perspective, a titanium model on a bracelet will cost you EUR 1,790. Then, it is WR 500m rated and features an HEV and a ceramic bezel. For more information, please visit delma.ch.
