When it comes to discussing classic dress watches, Jaeger-LeCoultre is a name that often comes up early and repeatedly. The Manufacture is a well-established player in this segment of the market and is very, very good at what it does. As Geoffroy Lefebvre, Deputy CEO, explains in the above video, however, JLC also wants to give its customers an attractive option in the everyday sports/casual watch category. The result, is the new Polaris collection, inspired in large part by the Memovox Polaris timepiece from 1968. Although it may be an unexpected move from the brand, it is certainly not an unwelcome one.
If you’ve been following along with our SIHH 2018 coverage (which we hope you have!), you likely would have read all about the new Polaris collection on MONOCHROME already. If you missed that introductory article, you can find it here. In total, five models are included in the initial collection, including the limited-edition Polaris Memovox, which will only be produced in 1,000 pieces. Although the entire collection is inspired by the Memovox, the LE is the only direct homage piece to the famous Memovox Polaris from 1968. Feedback to the new range has been very positive, and we will certainly follow up with our own in-depth reviews post-SIHH 2018 in the true MONOCHROME style.
The other big hit from JLC at SIHH 2018 is of course the Reverso Tribute Duoface with gorgeous Casa Fagliano strap (read our intro article here.) Equally as cool is the fact that, as you can see in the video, the famed Argentinian bootmakers have set up shop at JLC throughout the SIHH 2018, giving people an opportunity to fully appreciate the beauty of their straps and the handcrafted workmanship that goes into them. If you’re attending SIHH 2018 on the open day tomorrow, they, along with JLC, are a must visit.
