Roger Dubuis Presents the Excalibur Lady of the Lake Hawthorn Edition
Viviane, the Lady of the Lake in Arthurian legend, inspires the poetic dial of this watch embellished with sculpted mother-of-pearl flowers and gemstones.
Roger Dubuis created a powerful storyline for its Excalibur Knights of the Round Table watches, featuring incredibly detailed micro-sculptures and métiers d’art to depict scenes from Arthurian legend housed in large, complex cases. After launching a women’s line with its Velvet collection in 2012, Excalibur also released a scaled-down, more feminine version of the Excalibur in more wearable 36mm cases. Adapting the narrative to include female characters from the legend of King Arthur, Roger Dubuis introduced two high-end mechanical Lady of the Lake watches at Watches & Wonders 2026. For autumn, Roger Dubuis proposes a Hawthorn edition of the Lady of the Lake with a feminine dial decorated with sculpted mother-of-pearl flowers and a generous sprinkling of gemstones.
Inspired by the magical water fairy who presents King Arthur with his sword, Excalibur, the Lady of the Lake, often known as Viviane, is the guiding spirit of the sub-collection. Presented in a 36mm rose gold case with a thickness of 9.85mm, the case retains some Excalibur features, like the fluted bezel. However, as an eminently feminine creation, the bezel segments are set with diamonds, as are the two central bar-shaped lugs. Though far more compact than the men’s editions, the polished and satin-brushed case is complex, with an overhanging bezel and sweeping, diamond-set flanks that hug the crown. In profile, the crown is ring-shaped, referencing the magic ring Viviane gives Lancelot.
The dial has three layers. The raised, snailed flange displays applied galvanised rose gold indices filled with luminescent material. Slightly lower, the next level features a smooth white mother-of-pearl track hosting three-dimensional white hawthorn flowers, sculpted from mother-of-pearl with diamond-set centres, surrounded by red sapphires representing hawthorn berries. The small seconds at 6 o’clock are also indicated by a white mother-of-pearl hawthorn flower. Gleaming brightly, the central part of the dial is set with 147 diamonds. Gliding above the poetic scenery are the faceted rose gold hour and minute hands.
A sapphire crystal on the caseback reveals the RD830 automatic movement with an openworked 22k rose gold rotor. The calibre has a frequency of 4Hz, delivers a power reserve of 48 hours and is decorated with Côtes de Genève and snailing.
The Lady of the Lake Hawthorn edition is paired with a red pearlescent alligator strap and a rose gold pin buckle. Price is upon request. More information at rogerdubuis.com.
