The New Green Edition of the Petite Seconde Metropolis Louis Erard x The Horophile
An attractive green dial version of the Art Deco-inspired Petite Seconde.
A year ago, Louis Erard and watch influencer The Horophile (Amr Sindi) joined forces to create a special trilogy of the brand’s Petite Seconde known as the Metropolis. Following the same Art Deco recipe, the latest Petite Seconde Metropolis flaunts an attractive green dial, and comes in a non-limited edition.
Since Manuel Emch’s arrival as director of Louis Erard, collaborations have become the brand’s calling card. Inviting artists, watchmakers, artisans and design studios to leave their imprint, Louis Erard offers original watches without breaking the bank. Amr Sindi, known by his Instagram handle @The Horophile, is a well-known face on the watch scene and possesses an eclectic watch collection. He has worked with Emch on many occasions and is a founding member of the indie brand Kollokium.
The sleek Art Deco spirit of this watch, or Neo Deco as Emch and Sindi refer to the style, is beautifully captured on the dial with its series of concentric grooves or gadroons in the centre and the special typeface selected for the numerals printed on the brushed chapter ring. Expanding on the earlier models with grey, salmon and tobacco-coloured dials, the new Petite Second Metropolis has a green dial with white numerals and the double circles framing the chapter ring and the small seconds counter.
One of the outstanding features of the Metropolis is the hour and minute hands. Evoking the tiered architecture of the Empire State Building, the famous 1931 Art Deco skyscraper, the hands are wider at the base and taper to a fine point at the tips. The small seconds counter is featured at 6 o’clock and has a snailed interior and a smaller skyscraper-style hand.
Identical to the earlier trilogy, the new Metropolis comes in a polished 39mm stainless steel case Petite Seconde case and is powered by an automatic élaboré grade Sellita SW261-1 with a relatively short power reserve of 38 hours and a stop-seconds mechanism. With no logo or inscriptions that could ruin the sleek Art Deco dial, the brand name and The Horophile are engraved on the caseback.
The Louis Erard Petite Seconde Metropolis x The Horophile is paired with a beige, grained calfskin strap and pin buckle. Contrary to the previous models limited to 59 pieces, this one is available from the permanent collection and retails for CHF 2,300. For more information, please consult louiserard.com.
