Piaget Polo S Automatic Green-and-Gold Limited Edition
For 2020, Piaget’s luxury 3-hand sports watch embellishes its green PVD dial with rose gold accents.
The Polo S is Piaget’s answer to the luxury sports watch and was launched in 2016. With its 42mm cushion-shaped case and 1970s vibe, the 9.4mm height of the case remained surprisingly slim for an automatic sports watch and reflects Piaget’s tradition of watches with lean profiles. For 2020, Piaget introduces a new version of its PDV green dial, now with rose gold hands and indices and a steel bracelet.
Sporty dimensions, lean profile
No matter how many watch writers claimed to see similarities with the shape of the Polo S and other famous luxury sports watches, the similarity in shape with Piaget’s Emperador watches is undeniable. Like the Emperador, the case of the Piaget Polo S is a medley of shapes. The bezel is ostensibly round but the interior part of the bezel draws a subtle octagon giving it a prominent cushion-shape. To emphasise the geometry, the 42mm case is decorated with brushed and polished finishes. The bezel, for example, features a horizontal brushed surface and bevelled polished edges, like the lugs. The integrated bracelet echoes these finishes with polished external links and a central brushed link. Another trait of the time-and-date Polo S models is its slim case height of 9.4mm, pretty lean for an automatic sports watch with an open caseback and water-resistance of 100 metres.
Green and gold
The green PVD-coated dial features the guilloché lines running horizontally across the surface that characterise this collection. The engraved grooves play with the light and create an almost gradient effect (you can see this effect in the live pics of the previous green PVD model) across the surface. The big news with the 2020 edition is that the hour markers, hands and even the frame of the date window are now rendered in rose gold. The applied indices and the hands also have a thick streak of lume in their centre to aid visibility in poor light conditions. Although it cannot really be considered a two-tone watch, the contrast of steel on the case and rose gold on the dial is eye-catching.
Another difference with the previous green limited-edition Polo S is the presence of a stainless steel bracelet, replacing the green leather strap – giving this model a sportier look and more versatility.
Piaget 1110P Automatic
The sapphire crystal on the back of this Polo S allows a view of the slim 1110P calibre, created by Piaget specifically for this collection. It is an automatic movement with a height of just 4mm that ticks at 4Hz during 50 hours, which is enough to give the watch a rest for the weekend. No surprises in the decoration department, with circular Côtes de Genève both on the bridges and the slate grey rotor, bevelled bridges and circular graining on the mainplate.

I was looking at this watch last night and I even like the date window which normally would annoy me. There’s a blue version that’s a bit cheaper also nice
