Treat yourself for a good cause… Only watch 2017, the much-awaited 7th edition of the biennial fundraiser for research on muscular dystrophy, will soon reveal its unique pieces. We took some time to talk with Luc Pettavino, President of Association Monégasque contre les Myopathies (AMM) and founder of Only Watch, who gives us a sneak peek of the 2017 edition.

Only Watch, the charity timepiece auction held every two years is fast approaching. This unique and prestigious initiative brings together the biggest names of the industry to benefit research on muscular dystrophy. We spent some time with Luc Pettavino, who gave us the inside track on the 2017 edition.

Luc, 2017 will be the 7th edition of Only Watch. What an inspiring initiative!

Words can hardly express the gratitude we have to the people that have made Only Watch possible. We are doing Only Watch to support an amazing community of people. The first 6 editions have raised 26 million Euro to fight muscular dystrophy. Thanks to the support of the numerous partners that graciously bring their know-how and support, almost all of the proceeds are going to research. Only Watch is proud to only spend 1 to 1.5% of proceeds on the organization of the event. We are supporting both fundamental and applied research, in particular in Switzerland, France and in the USA.

What is new for the 2017 edition?

Still organized under the patronage of HSH Albert II de Monaco, the 7th edition gathers a record 48 participants. These include brands, but also 2 special projects created by a high-end movement manufacturer and a watchmaking school. Only Watch 2017 will be auctioned by Christie’s in Geneva in November 2017.

Beyond one of a kind watches, some 20 brands will also offer unique experiences that will make their creations even more special.

Lastly, we have also planned a longer promotional tour with 10 different dates and cities to be visited. The presentations will be showcased at Christie’s, leading retailers, an art museum and a first class yachting event.


Stay tuned, as the embargo will be lifted very soon (July 5th, 3pm UTC+1) and you can expect some very special pieces… We already had a quick look at the auction catalogue (don’t ask, we won’t tell…), and the least we can say is that it features some really interesting products. The project generates amazing visibility (417 million pages read in 2015 – print + digital) and brands are dedicating more and more effort to crafting truly exceptional products. The Only Watch 2017 presentation will premiere at the Monaco Yacht Show from September 27th to 30th. The auction will take place in Geneva on 11 November 2017.
