With the Geneva Watch Days fast approaching, brands are pre-releasing selected models to whet our appetite. Among them, Czapek has unveiled a cool monochromatic, blacked-out version of its most luxurious model, its bold and contemporary tourbillon watch. Meet the Place Vendôme Tourbillon Dark Matter.

The Czapek Place Vendôme Tourbillon was unveiled in 2017 with two limited editions in platinum and rose gold. Two new versions were presented at Baselword 2019: one in platinum with a baguette-cut diamonds setting called ‘Etincelles’ and one in titanium called, ‘Ombres’. It is now time for the brand’s most luxurious collection to move into darker territories with the “Dark Matter” limited edition.

For the occasion, the 43.5mm case is presented in black ADLC-titanium. Underneath the curved sapphire crystal, the black enamel ring framing the off-centred hour and minute indication is paired with black PVD-coated bridges and a black honeycomb pattern decor. The white gold hour and minute hand are fitted with luminescent material.

Flip the watch over and you are granted an unimpeded view of the hand-wound calibre SXH2 with its grey sandblasted plate. Developed and manufactured with Chronode, this proprietary movement ticks at 21,600 vibrations per hour. The tourbillon cage is made of 57 parts and is superbly hand-finished. The autonomy is of 60 hours when the barrel is fully wound. The symmetric layout of the display shows the hours and minutes at 12 o’clock together with a discreet power reserve indication. The GMT indication at 4 o’clock creates a perfect counterpoint to the tourbillon. It is connected to the day/night indication located at 6 o’clock.

The Czapek Place Vendôme Tourbillon Dark Matter is released in a 10-piece limited edition. It is worn on a matte black alligator strap fitted with a titanium pin buckle. Price is set at CHF 90,000.
