MeisterSinger’s New Panthero Jumping Hour Collection
A new case, a new jumping hour module, and a confident step upmarket for the German single-hand specialist.
Who doesn’t know MeisterSinger…? If you are into watches, with just a superficial interest, the name surely rings a bell: it’s a single-handed watch! Founded in Münster in 2001, the brand decided to build its identity around the idea that time doesn’t need to be dissected into seconds and minutes. By returning to the single-hand display of early clocks and pocket watches, MeisterSinger positioned itself as an antidote to the constant acceleration of contemporary life. Calm, legible, and unhurried, MeisterSinger has always prioritised design clarity over complication for its own sake.
Still, over the years, the brand didn’t limit itself and has explored day-date displays, power reserves, moon phases, Sonnerie au Passage, and even watches with minute hands… But combined with a pleasant indication by jumping hours, first introduced in the mid-2010s with the Salthora models. Now, celebrating its 25th anniversary, with the Panthero Jumping Hour, MeisterSinger revisits the complication from the ground up.
The Panthero Jumping Hour collection introduces a completely new case design. Measuring 40.5mm in diameter and 11.25mm in thickness, it is noticeably more sculpted and detailed than anything the brand has previously released. The bezel is exceptionally slim, giving visual priority to the dial, and the case flanks with the recessed middle combine brushed, blasted and polished surfaces. A distinctive spiral-shaped crown takes place on the right side and is decorated with the brand’s logo. Sapphire crystals on the front and back complete the construction with a water resistance rating of 50m.
The dial is where the Panthero differs from earlier jumping-hour MeisterSingers, and come to think of it, most other brands’ models. The hour appears in a circular aperture at 12 o’clock, jumping once every 60 minutes. The minutes are shown by a finely shaped hand with a rounded silhouette that sweeps across an off-centred, superimposed minutes ring. Another dial element is the rotating “sun wheel”, shaped like the brand’s fermata logo and overlapping the rings at 6 o’clock. It serves no measuring function but rotates to make the passage of time visible.
Three references are being launched, regular production models with lacquered black or white dials, and a 25-piece limited edition with a genuine hand-guilloché silver dial, produced on a traditional rose engine by one of the brand’s partners (undisclosed).
The Panthero Jumping Hour is powered by calibre MS-JH-01, based on the Sellita SW300 automatic (an alternative to the ETA 2892) and fitted with a proprietary jumping-hour module, developed in collaboration with Dubois-Depraz. The module is newly conceived for this watch and is not comparable to the one used in the earlier Salthora models. Meistersinger explains that the entire construction is significantly more complex than the previous solution, reflecting the Panthero’s elevated technical and aesthetic ambitions.
The movement operates at 28,800 vibrations/hour, offers a 47-hour power reserve, and is visible through the sapphire caseback. The rotor, finished in anthracite, echoes the fermata in its design. The module’s base plate is coated and adorned with fine perlage, underlining the overall high standard of finishing.
As mentioned, the Panthero launches three versions, with more variants already in the works. The highlight is a 25-piece anniversary edition featuring a genuine hand-cut silver guilloché dial. It is worn on a brown calf leather strap with crocodile embossing; the regular production references are paired with crocodile-embossed calfskin straps in black and white. Milanese bracelets and other leather options are available.
With prices starting at EUR 6,990 and rising to EUR 7,990 for the limited guilloché edition, the Panthero Jumping Hour marks a clear move upmarket. More refined, more complex, and more expressive than previous collections, it sets a new reference point for what a MeisterSinger can be. More details on meistersinger.com.
