The New Maurice Lacroix Aikonic Collection, The Sportier & Edgier Take on the Aikon

Meet the new chapter in the brand's urban, integrated designed collection.

| By Denis Peshkov | 3 min read |

Since its debut in 2016, the successful Aikon series by Maurice Lacroix has become the brand’s best seller. The collection has included chronographs, has embraced stainless steel, titanium, bronze and ceramic, exploring textures and finishes that give each model its own personality. We’ve seen the robust Aikon Venturer, the openworked Aikon Skeleton, and even playful collaborations, where bold graphics reimagined the urban watch for a new generation. Through this variety, the Aikon has stayed true to its distinctive six-claw bezel design and case architecture, while constantly evolving. Now comes the Maurice Lacroix Aikonic (Aikon + IC, Innovative Craftsmanship), a collection that honours this lineage and pushes it forward, incorporating refined mechanics and a design language that signals readiness for daily adventure.

Edgier design mixing materials

The stainless steel case of the Aikonic looks familiar yet noticeably changed. Vertical brushing along the flanks contrasts with polished bevels that catch the light, while variable chamfers create dynamic reflections with each wrist movement. At 43mm in diameter and 11mm thick, the case has a presence with comfort, sitting flat and easy to wear despite its bold appearance.

The six bezel arms, a hallmark of the Aikon family, and the fixed bezel are retained for the Maurice Lacroix Aikonic Collection but are now made of ceramic, and buyers can choose between black, white, or blue ceramic bezels, each providing the Aikonic with a distinct look. The ceramic is also used to cover the steel crown, which features a grippy tactile surface. The Aikonic case features sapphire crystals front and back, and the new watches are 100m water resistant.

Carbon dial and refined details

At launch, the four new Maurice Lacroix Aikonic references, all time-and-date models, come with a carbon dial featuring a unidirectional alignment of fibres, all running vertically and creating a play of black and grey stripes. This technical surface provides contrast for the rhodium-plated faceted hands and indices, each with a sandblasted central line. Super-LumiNova is added to the hour and minutes hands for nighttime visibility. The date aperture at 3 o’clock integrates seamlessly into the layout. For one of the black bezel references, the brand chose to colour hands, indices and date window frame in light blue, matching the strap, for a cheerful appearance.

Enhanced mechanics

Turning the Maurice Lacroix Aikonic over reveals the new ML1000 automatic calibre, developed in close collaboration with Soprod, just a short distance from Maurice Lacroix’s Saignelégier manufacture. This movement elevates the Aikonic into a slightly higher category, as it delivers chronometer-level accuracy (±4 seconds/day), a robust 60-hour power reserve, operating at a 28,800 vibrations/hour frequency. Decoration includes Côtes de Genève, perlage, blued screws, and circular graining, details rarely found at this price point. The double-screw balance bridge offers stability and symmetry, while the oversized openworked rotor allows a view of the finely finished bridges.

Sporty, exchangeable straps

The Aikonic comes equipped with bi-material rubber straps, with a black, light blue or dark blue rubber base (depending on the edition) and a black or white textured nylon imitation rubber inset with black or white stitching. It incorporates the brand’s patented ML Easy Change system, allowing quick, tool-free changes – and we expect the brand to offer more options in the future, whether materials or colours.

Availability & price

Priced at CHF 2,950, the Aikonic cements what has made Maurice Lacroix successful: bold design, innovative materials, and Swiss craftsmanship delivered at an accessible level. It retains the energy of the original Aikon while introducing fresh ideas in carbon dials, ceramic components, and a new movement that raises the technical quality. For those who have followed the Aikon these years, the Aikonic will feel like the natural evolution, for those who have yet to discover the brand, it certainly adds to the offer.
