Spring is in the air, and French brand March LA.B celebrates its favourite month with a limited edition of its flagship AM2 watch collection. Founded in 2009 by three friends, united by a passion for surfing and retro design, the LA.B part of the brand’s name does not refer to a laboratory but to the Los Angeles residence of designer Jérôme Mage and Biarritz, where CEO Alain Marhic and financial advisor Joseph Châtel live. Fast becoming an annual ritual, with Millésime AM2s released in 2024 and 2025, the Millésime March 2026 revisits its octagonal 1970s-inspired AM2 in a forged carbon case and a green dial endowed with exceptional luminescence.

The foundational AM1, which evolved into the AM2, was released in 2011 and drew inspiration from American muscle cars such as the Shelby Cobra and the Ford Mustang. The AM2, available in 39mm and 36mm cases with three hands and date, GMT, and calendar functions, is characterised by its angular octagonal case and strong 1970s style.

The bold 8-sided carbon fibre case features the AM2’s characteristic sloping facets, a large, recessed, knurled crown at 4 o’clock, and more than adequate 100m water-resistance. With a 38mm diameter and a thickness of 12.8mm, the more elaborate finishes of the steel and titanium models are sacrificed here in favour of forged carbon fibre. Using compression moulds, forged carbon fibre is a composite of randomly oriented fibre strands mixed with resin under high heat and pressure, producing a unique marbled effect and superior strength and impact resistance. In this case, the mottled and matte carbon fibre is infused with green strands, aligning with the brand’s passion for the colour green.

Similarly, the dial is dark green, with a framed date window at 6 o’clock displaying a bright green “3”. Closer inspection reveals the textured pattern of the raised octagonal centre, mirroring the “armoured” motif of the jacquard textile straps. Another feature of the AM2 is its bar-shaped indices arranged horizontally, vertically, or at a slant.

Although the word “nyctalope” in English refers to people with night blindness, in French it refers to people or animals capable of seeing in the dark, a trait reflected in the luminescent elements on the dial. Made from solid blocks of Super-LumiNova, the double-bar indices and small circular markers on the periphery emit a strong green glow in the dark, complemented by the thinner streak of SLN inside the tuning fork-shaped hour and minute hands.

Not surprisingly, the porthole-shaped sapphire crystal on the caseback is tinted green and reveals the openworked rotor of the La Joux-Perret G100 calibre, an automatic movement with a robust power reserve of 68 hours and a frequency of 28,800vph.

The watch is delivered with two interchangeable jacquard-woven straps by Julien Faure: a black one with a titanium buckle and a green-and-black strap with a black PVD steel buckle. It is a limited edition of 169 pieces and retails for EUR 2,495 (incl. tax). More information at march-lab.com.
