I guess this is a first… a proper documentary series on some of the best-known, most successful and coolest Independent watch brands. Industry veteran Wei Koh, founder of Revolution Magazine (among others), presents eight episodes featuring visits to watch brands and collectors, offering a glimpse into what these brands do and how collectors appreciate the (often) handmade timepieces. Check out Man of the Hour on Discovery Channel.

These eight episodes focus on the artistry, innovation, and human stories at the heart of modern watchmaking. After pre-viewing the first episode, I must say, it was very cool to watch and really adds a lot of value to any watch aficionado. Season one focuses on F.P. Journe, the Scheufele family of Chopard, De Bethune, Urban Jürgensen, Rexhep Rexhepi, Greubel Forsey, Jean Arnault of Louis Vuitton, Daniel Roth and Gerald Genta, and MB&F. And yes, you read that correctly… season one. I guess it’s safe to assume there will be more seasons!

Wei Koh: “Many of the people featured in Man of the Hour are not just watchmakers I admire, but dear friends whose families I’ve had the privilege to know. For me, this isn’t just a documentary about horology; it’s about sharing the lives, laughter, struggles, and triumphs of people I care deeply about. It is an honour to bring their stories to a global audience.

Let me add one piece of advice about Man of the Hour: watch it!
