There are quite a few brands that link themselves to motorsport, but Lorige is one of the few that has gone completely all-in on the idea. Another good example of that is the latest BL-Endurance Evolution Bleu Asphalte Gold Edition. Founded in 2018 by car enthusiasts Clément Etienvre and Emeric Paraud, the young French-Swiss microbrand doesn’t just borrow racing design cues or colours. Its watches are literally made from recycled carbon/carbon brake pads taken from endurance race cars. Over the years, Lorige has also worked with teams like United Autosports, Peugeot Sport, and the Heart of Racing Team.

The whole recycled carbon/carbon brake pad idea could feel like a one-trick gimmick, but over the past few years, especially with the BL-Endurance line, Lorige has slowly turned the idea into something genuinely interesting. This brings us to the latest Lorige BL-Endurance Evolution Bleu Asphalte Gold Edition, presented during Time to Watches 2026 in Geneva. And yes, this is pretty much what the name suggests: the same dark and motorsport-oriented Lorige style, now mixed with 5N rose gold. Hailing from the Lorige BL-Endurance collection, this model builds on the sporty Bleu Asphalte version introduced last year.

The tonneau-shaped case of the BL-Endurance Evolution Bleu Asphalte Gold Edition measures 50mm by 42mm and is still made from Lorige’s patented carbon/carbon composite. In this case, the material comes from the brake pads of the Heart of Racing Valkyrie No. 23, which finished on the podium at the 2025 Petit Le Mans. As always with Lorige, the material itself remains the main attraction. The texture of the recycled brake material gives the watch a look somewhere between forged carbon, ceramic, and scorched metal, with each case ending up slightly different from the next. It is also water-resistant up to 50 metres.

Lorige watches usually go for a more industrial motorsport look. The BL-Endurance Evolution Bleu Asphalte Gold Edition still does too, but the rose gold bezel, caseback, strap lugs, and sub-dial surrounds make it feel a bit more refined. Inspired by the Valkyrie race car’s livery, the blue lacquer accents add some colour to an otherwise very dark-looking watch. The dial still shows the complex character of the BL-Endurance models, with blue Arabic numerals coming out nicely against the blackened surfaces. White Super-LumiNova is used for the hands and indexes, while the asymmetrical layout shows a little of the movement below.

Speaking of the movement ticking inside, the manually wound calibre LOR-DB02 is developed with movement specialist Chronode, whose movements have also powered watches from brands like Fleming and Breva, each with its own finishing and style. Lorige gives this movement what the brand calls a Duo-Tone finish, which is a combination of black PVD-treated bridges with rhodium-plated Geneva stripes and hand-finished bevels. The movement runs at 21,600 vibrations/hour and delivers an impressive 168-hour power reserve.

The Lorige BL-Endurance Evolution Bleu Asphalte Gold Edition is worn on a black rubber strap with a titanium folding clasp. It will be limited to 10 pieces, and its price is available on request. For more information, please visit lorige.com.
