Longines Expands the Spirit Pilot Collection with Four New Sky Blue References

The Longines Spirit collection was launched in 2020 and has since evolved into one of the brand’s main contemporary families, offering watches with vintage-inspired aviation cues yet with modern specifications. The range now comprises six models, including the Spirit Pilot and Spirit Pilot Flyback introduced in 2025 – streamlined, more focused and more compact models with a clearer aviation theme. For 2026, Longines expands the offer with four new options defined by matte blue dials, with the Flyback versions adding a matching blue ceramic bezel.

The Blue Spirit Pilot

The three-hand Spirit Pilot retains the streamlined design introduced last year, with a 39mm stainless-steel case, brushed and polished, measuring 11.5mm thick and 47.4mm lug-to-lug. A sapphire crystal with anti-reflective coating on both sides protects the dial, while a screw-in crown and screw-down caseback contribute to 100m of water resistance.

The watch keeps the essential military-pilot character of the Spirit family, but the new matte blue dial gives the Spirit Pilot a different character while preserving its focus on legibility. Applied rhodium-plated Arabic numerals are filled with Super-LumiNova, as are the matching rhodium-plated hands. A railroad-style minutes track runs the dial’s periphery, and a ring with rhomboid markers further highlights the 5-second intervals; the central seconds hand features a rhomboid tip. The absence of a date window leaves a cleaner dial, and the place of conventional “Automatic” is taken by the chronometer certification mention, as on last year’s reference. It is a straightforward three-hand layout, putting time-reading first.

This new version of the Spirit Pilot is powered by the Longines-exclusive calibre L888.4, an evolution of the ETA 2892, operating at 25,200 vibrations/hour with 72 hours of autonomy. The calibre features a magnetic-resistant silicon hairspring and is COSC-certified.

The Blue Spirit Pilot Flyback

The Spirit Pilot Flyback receives the same blue treatment. The case measures 39.5mm in diameter and 13.4mm thick, with 47.4mm lug-to-lug. The hand-wound movement allows more compact dimensions introduced with the 2025 model, with a considerable reduction in size compared with the earlier 42mm automatic Spirit Flyback. A bidirectional rotating bezel features a new blue ceramic insert with a countdown timer. The box-shaped sapphire crystal adds a slightly vintage profile. Water resistance is rated at 100m.

The blue dial retains two registers, with running seconds at 9 and the 30-minute totaliser at 3 o’clock, with silvered hands and applied Arabic numerals treated with Super-LumiNova.

The Spirit Pilot Flyback is powered by the hand-wound L792.4, a Longines-exclusive movement based on the Valjoux 7750 and upgraded with a column wheel and flyback function. It runs at 28,800 vibrations/hour, has a silicon balance spring, COSC certification and offers up to 68 hours of power reserve. The movement is visible through a transparent screw-down sapphire caseback.

Availability & Price

Both models can be fitted with a stainless-steel bracelet featuring a double safety folding clasp with micro-adjustment, or a blue rubber strap (20mm lug width) with a pin buckle – the 2025 references came with a leather strap and a micro-adjustment folding clasp option, but this isn’t offered on these blue models. The rubber strap features an easy-change system.

The new Longines Spirit Pilot and Spirit Pilot Flyback are now available from the permanent collection. Prices are EUR 2,600 for the Spirit Pilot on rubber strap, and EUR 2,950 on steel bracelet.
