Laurent Ferrier Only Watch 2013

Laurent Ferrier is one of the thirty-three brands that so generously offers a unique timepiece, that will be auctioned by Antiquorum at the Only Watch 2013 auction. All proceeds will will go to medical research on Duchenne muscular dystrophy. The timepiece that Laurent Ferrier donates is a unique piece equipped with the very first movement of the second version of the Tourbillon Double Spiral – meaning number “000” of LF Calibre 619.01.

Laurent Ferrier Only Watch 2013This very first movement of the new version of the Tourbillon Double Spiral will come in a stainless steel case. That’s rather unique for Laurent Ferrier, because all their timepieces are offered in precious metals. Next week we’ll bring you more news about this new/renewed movement and a limited edition of 18 that will also come in a stainless steel case. I wouldn’t be surprised if these stainless steel Laurent Ferrier timepieces in steel will become more sought after than their gold or platinum siblings, and with an according price increase as result.

The dial of Laurent Ferrier’s Tourbillon Double Spiral for Only Watch 2013 is a hand-painted grand feu enamelled dial depicting a dove. The gold-rimmed small seconds subdial is adorned with a tone-on-tone (let’s call it “monochrome”) painting of the Monaco coat-of-arms. The hour and minute hand are the already familiar hands from this relatively young brand that already won the 2010 Grand Prix d’Horlogerie de Genève with the Galet Classic Tourbillon Double Spiral. A brilliant accomplishment, considering they had just started the brand and the Tourbillon Double Spiral was their first timepiece and was released in that same year.

According to LF these hands are called “Assegai-shaped” hands.

The movement finishing and decoration are visible through the case-back. They are crafted in keeping with the highest standards of traditional Fine Watchmaking. The bridges are adorned with a Côtes de Genève motif, the mainplate is circular-grained, the sharp edges and interior angles are chamfered and hand-polished, and the screw heads are also bevelled and polished. The inscription “Only Watch” is engraved on the barrel drum. The Galet Classic Only Watch is fitted with an Alcantara-lined beige alligator leather strap fastened by a steel pin buckle.

Soon more news about the second version of the Tourbillon Double Spiral movement and the limited edition of 18 pieces in stainless steel. For now one more photo that perfectly showcases the discreet beauty of this Laurent Ferrier.
