Konstantin Chaykin Brings the Atomic Heart Twins to Life

Konstantin Chaykin has steadily brought unexpected cultural references in his Wristmon series, both international and from his home country, into watchmaking, converting the dial into a small stage for artistic characters. The new editions come from the world of video games. The Twins are among the most recognisable characters in Mundfish’s Atomic Heart, a first-person shooter set in an alternate-history Soviet Union of 1955, where advanced robotics and an ambitious technological utopia descend into chaos. The two giant ballerina robots serve as bodyguards to scientist Dmitry Sechenov, their movements inspired by the choreography of Bolshoi Theatre dancers.

Like the 2025 Venus, inspired by Botticelli’s The Birth of Venus, the new release adapts the time display. Meet the Ballerina Twins, Chaykin’s mechanical interpretations, under an official Atomic Heart licence. The watch is available in Left Twin and Right Twin versions, each with its own composition, both within a 40mm diameter and 12.9mm-thick titanium case, with a sapphire crystal featuring anti-reflective coating on the front and back. The case is polished and directionally brushed, with a crown at 3 o’clock. Water resistance is 30m.

The Left Twin is rendered in black against a deep red setting, while the Right Twin uses a silver figure against graphite, with gold-coloured guilloché elements representing her cropped cardigan.

The hour and minute discs (Twins’ chests, each with two synthetic ruby elements serving as the hour and minute pointers) rotate in the lower part of the dial. The upper section is taken by a large moon-phase display (the robot’s face). The indication has its own 10.1mm sapphire crystal, with a synthetic ruby star and gold-plated braid above it. Chaykin’s logo is placed near the neck like a small pendant.

The two dial executions use different combinations of abrasive blasting, lacquered relief and guilloché pattern. On the Left Twin, the lower part features a fan-like interpretation of grain d’orge, and the Right Twin uses radiating lines that spread downward from behind the character’s head.

The Twins are powered by the self-winding K.18-25, based on the La Joux-Perret G200, an evolution of the G100 (ETA 2824-2 compatible), and extensively modified for Konstantin Chaykin. The in-house display module adds 68 components to the base movement. The calibre operates at 28,800 vibrations/hour and delivers 68 hours of power reserve.

Each Atomic Heart Twin is fitted with a fabric strap and a titanium pin buckle produced by the Konstantin Chaykin Manufacture. Each Left Twin and Right Twin is limited to 69 pieces and priced at CHF 20,000. For more information, please visit konstantinchaykin.com.
