The Singer Reimagined Track 1 Endurance Edition 24h Chronograph

Part of the Singer Group, a Californian-based luxury brand that has become globally renowned for its bespoke restorations of the Porsche 911, Singer Reimagined is the watchmaking counterpart to the stunning cars. As such, there’s no denying the automotive connection of these watches, all of them deeply inspired by motorsport and meant to be used as racing timing instruments. This year, in the frame of the 2023 FIA World Endurance Championship (WEC), Singer is one of the partners supporting Hertz Team JOTA, racing the new Porsche 963 Le Mans Daytona hybrid (LMDh) in the Hypercar class, including the 24h of Le Mans. And to reinforce its role as Official Watch Partner for Hertz Team JOTA, Singer Reimagined has just released the Track 1 Endurance Edition 24h Chronograph. 

With the 2023 Edition of the 24H of Le Mans fast approaching (June 10 & 11), Singer – both the automotive brand and the watchmaker – are preparing for one of the most important races of the year. The Group is one of the official partners of the Hertz Team JOTA, the new Hypercar motor racing team sponsored by Hertz, Singer, and Tom Brady’s BRADY. For the new Porsche 963 Hybrid hypercar, Singer has designed a unique race livery that celebrates the centenary year of the 24 Hours of Le Mans and a golden age of endurance racing.

In addition, Singer Reimagined, the watchmaking arm of the Californian Group, is now releasing a special edition of its award-winning Track1 chronograph, paying tribute to the partner’s race car and its livery, as well as the legendary race that will soon take place in France. The design of this Track 1 Endurance Edition is deeply inspired by motorsport adventures, and some adjustments, both on the design and the mechanics, have been made to the innovative and complex Track1 Chronograph.

First and foremost, this new edition is all about performance and lightweight structure. It is made of titanium and uses the openworked case introduced in the Track1 DLS (the watch matching the stunning Dynamics and Lightweighting Study car, created with Williams F1’s Advanced Engineering). The sides of the cushion-shaped case have cut-outs at each corner, reducing the weight without altering the rigidity. The 43mm case, with black-coated bezel, crown and pushers, has been matte finished and coated in golden ZRN, matching the 963 race car’s livery.

With its flashes of gold and red tones, the dial of the Singer Track 1 Endurance Edition follows the same principles and makes the connection with Hertz Team JOTA’s car. The central area is black and features a classic chequered flag pattern, and the red inner flange carries a tachymeter scale (indispensable on a race-oriented chrono). Time is still displayed by means of two ceramic discs on the periphery, with hours and minutes indicated by a pointer at 6 o’clock. These discs are made of ceramic in Singer’s Racing White. But what truly matters in this watch is the trio of hands in the centre…

Indeed, the Singer Reimagined Track 1 is primarily focused on recording elapsed times and keeping track of a race car’s pace on the circuit. Being dedicated to endurance racing, the display of the classic Track1 has been further developed to enable a dedicated 24-hour chrono function. And to provide the best possible legibility of the time indications, this chronograph is equipped with jumping hours and minutes and a sweeping seconds hand. Completing the racing look of the Track1 Endurance Edition, it is worn on a perforated rubber strap closed by a deployant buckle.

Apart from the modification of the display, the engine that beats under the hood is the same ultra-complex, ultra-innovative movement as previous editions of the Track1, the AgenGraphe made by Swiss movement maker Agenhor. This automatic movement, with unprecedented architecture, brings all the chronograph functions to the centre of the watch, which incidentally required an entirely new construction. The AgenGraphe features an innovative clutch mechanism. The coupling is made horizontally, which requires less space, yet it is made using friction, just like a vertical clutch. The dial-side rotor (made possible because the hands are on a central axis) leaves an unimpeded view of the movement and its 477 meticulously hand-finished parts.
