The Sero Watch Company Signature, An Honest and Sensible Dress Watch From The Netherlands
Compact dimensions, classical design elements and reliable mechanics are paired with a very fair price.
The watch culture in the Netherlands has been steadily growing over a good number of years, and we’re able to show another new and rather neat watch project to the already diverse group of brands and watchmakers stemming from our small country. Founded by two Dutchmen with a deep passion for watches and developed over a period of four years, Sero Watch Company makes its debut with the classically styled Signature. With elements from the dress watches from the 1930s through 1950s as inspiration, the Signature looks to combine dashing looks with reliable mechanics above all, a sensible price! And from what we can tell already, the Signature ticks a lot of enthusiasts’ boxes!
Sero Watch Company is the combined effort of Sergino Röntgen and Robert van de Stadt, both longtime watch collectors from the Netherlands with an interest across a wide range of watch genres and styles. Their project started with an honest and simple question, one that many of us have no doubt asked ourselves at one point as well: what would the ideal modern dress watch look like? With a focus on proportion, style and execution rather than chasing trends, the Signature looks to deliver.
As Sergino and Robert took inspiration from an era where watches were a lot slimmer, on average at least, than nowadays, it should come as no surprise that the Signature is a lovely, compact watch overall. The diameter of the stainless steel case comes down to 37.5mm, paired with a height of 8.7mm without, and 9.5mm with a sapphire crystal. The finishing looks simple, but nice, with brushed flanks and polished tops. Around the back, the caseback reveals more details about the watch and offers a view of the movement inside, and the watch is rated at a water-resistance of 100m, which is convenient.
The design dial is typical of a dress watch from the 1930s through 1950s, and it’s exactly what Sergino and Robert were aiming for. The base dial comes in four colourways: Silver, Champagne, Blue and Red, all with a vertically brushed finish. The stand-out features are the fine machine-engraved Breguet-style numerals and dotted minute/hour track on the outer edge of the dial. These engravings are given a black electroplated finish to add contrast and depth, and time is indicated with thermally blued spade hands. The ‘Signature’ script in the lower half is also machine-engraved, but electroplated in a gunmetal tone. The finishing touch to this otherwise restrained yet balanced dial is the black printed name of the brand and its origins up top.
Despite its very vintage appeal, the Sero Signature relies on modern Swiss mechanics, in the form of the Sellita SW-210-1B. This manually wound, and rather slim calibre is based on the architecture of the Peseux 7001. With a size of 25.6mm by 3.35mm, it is the prime reason for the Signature’s pleasant dimensions. Running at a rate of 21,600vph, it holds up to 45 hours of power reserve. The Elaboré-grade movement can be seen through the caseback, with Geneva stripes, blued screws and snailed wheels. It’s nothing spectacular, but overall very nicely done and, rather importantly, reliable and easily serviced if needed!
The Signature by Sero Watch Company comes on either an Ostrich leg or Epsom leather strap with a stainless steel pin buckle, or a period-inspired stainless steel Beads-of-Rice bracelet with a folding clasp. Sales will commence at the end of Q1 2026, with prices starting at EUR 899 for the first 150 orders, EUR 999 in the pre-sale period running, and on to a final retail price of EUR 1,199. There’s also the option to get the full set for a price of EUR 3,596. Straps and bracelets are also sold separately, so you can diversify to your heart’s content.
