Compact 36mm models in two-tone steel and gold and in rose gold with diamond indices.
Following the appointment of Guido Terreni as CEO of Parmigiani Fleurier, efforts have been focused almost exclusively on the Tonda PF collection. A refined and minimalist interpretation of the luxury sports watch, the Tonda PF has developed since its debut in 2021 and is now home to several complications. In response to requests for more compact, unisex case sizes, Parmigiani Fleurier introduced a 36mm version of its most straightforward Tonda PF and eliminated the date window. Today, the brand announces the expansion of the Tonda PF Automatic with a new two-tone steel and gold model and a fancier version with a rich ruby-coloured dial and diamond indices.
It’s worth pointing out that there are currently two automatic time and time-and-date Tonda PF models with slightly different measurements. There is the original 40mm Tonda PF Micro-Rotor with a slim case height of 7.8mm, offering time and date functions powered by an ultra-thin movement with a platinum micro-rotor. The second model in the catalogue is the 36mm Tonda PF Automatic with a case thickness of 8.6mm and no date window.
Marking a novelty for the collection, the 36mm Tonda PF Automatic now appears in a two-tone rose gold and stainless steel suit. The challenge for designers at PF was to incorporate a contemporary two-tone look without marring the innate elegance of the collection. The rose gold is used to magnify certain architectural features of the case and bracelet without overwhelming the composition. Used on the knurled bezel and as the second vertical brushed link on the 5-link bracelet, the rose gold highlights the knurling and the tapering silhouette of the bracelet. The minimalist dial of the two-tone model is a sandy grey colour decorated with a hand-guilloché barleycorn pattern.
The second 36mm Tonda PF Automatic ramps up the luxury and comes in an 18k rose gold case with a beautiful ruby hand-guilloché dial set with 12 baguette-cut diamond indices. Available since last year with an integrated rose gold bracelet and now offered with a plum-coloured alligator strap, the all-gold model took home the Women’s Watch Prize at the 2022 edition of the GPHG.
Both models are powered by an automatic in-house movement – calibre PF770 – designed specifically to fit inside the 36mm case. Equipped with a central 22k gold skeletonised rotor, the movement is still exceptionally slim (3.9mm) and delivers a power reserve of 60 hours.
Availability & Price
The Tonda PF Automatic in rose gold with diamond indices and an integrated rose gold bracelet retails for CHF 52,900; on an alligator strap, the price is CHF 37,000. The two-tone 18k rose gold and steel model with integrated bracelet retails for CHF 24,000.
