The New Panerai Submersible Chrono Marina Militare Experience Edition PAM01699
Panerai returns with a new timepiece, pairing serious watchmaking with serious adventure tourism.

Panerai has just unveiled a new limited edition watch born from its partnership with the Italian Navy—yet for the first time, this collaboration extends beyond the seas and onto the skies, as Panerai teams up with the Navy’s aviation division, Aviazione Navale, for the launch of the latest Submersible Chrono Marina Militare Experience Edition. The new PAM01699 joins Panerai’s elite Experiences Program—an initiative launched in 2019 that invites clients (and once our editor Robin) to step inside the brand’s world of adventure and military heritage.
The new Panerai Submersible Chrono Marina Militare Experience Edition is presented in a commanding 47mm case crafted from grade 5 titanium with a brushed finish and features a unidirectional titanium bezel with a matte black ceramic insert. PAM01699 boasts 500m of water resistance, surpassing standard tolerances by more than 25%. At 3 o’clock, Panerai’s signature crown guard locks down the screw-down crown, a hallmark of the brand’s rugged spirit.
On the right side of the case, there’s a pusher to control a countdown function designed for precision timing. This pusher steps the central chronograph minute hand backwards in one-minute intervals; once the chronograph is activated via the 10 o’clock pusher, the hand counts down to zero, then switches to track elapsed time—an essential tool for time-to-target operations. The pusher on the opposite side of the case – at 8 o’clock – is for activating the flyback function, and the one at 10 o’clock is to start/stop the chronograph, with all pushers signed for user-friendly design.
Inspired by naval flight instruments, the dial is a textured green with a grainy finish. Grey Super-LumiNova fills the baton and drop-style applied indices and oversized hands, while a powerful “Marina Militare” signature anchors the design. Two recessed sub-dials—one at 3 o’clock for running seconds, styled like a radar display, and another for a 12-hour chronograph counter—add depth and purpose. Clean white printed details and a sharp minute track keep everything instantly readable. Additional functionality comes with the Travel-Time Jump Hour feature. A secondary hour hand can be adjusted independently in one-hour jumps without stopping the movement or disturbing the minute hand—ideal for those living across time zones. In the dark, the hands and indices glow vivid green, while the Travel-Time hour hand and 12 o’clock marker emit a blue glow, offering quick, intuitive orientation.
The watch is powered by the in-house P.9100/R automatic calibre—a flyback chronograph movement equipped with a vertical clutch and column wheel. Measuring 9.55mm thick, it delivers a robust three-day power reserve from twin barrels and operates at 28,800 vibrations/hour. It’s shielded from prying eyes and unwanted intrusions by a screwed titanium casebacjk with the Aviazione Navale insignia.
The new Panerai Submersible Chrono Marina Militare Experience Edition is worn on a rugged green canvas strap secured by a titanium buckle; an additional black rubber strap for versatility is included with the purchase. PAM01699 is limited to 35 pieces, it is priced at GBP 48,200—and comes with something money can’t easily buy: an unforgettable adventure – stepping “into the shoes of modern naval heroes during an exclusive three-day immersion” to “undergo rigorous military training exercises, engage in tactical simulations, and experience real-world helicopter missions”.

“Time to Target” – omg. Awaken your inner 10 year old for 48 grand. The rest of the watch looks nice
The irony being that the guys doing this for real are wearing G-shocks but never mind the BS.
