If you want an affordable mechanical classic, offered at an almost disruptive price point, few watches represent the concept as convincingly as the Orient Bambino. For more than a decade and for many people, the collection has been a gateway into traditional watchmaking, defined by domed crystals, restrained proportions and in-house movements. Over the years, the Bambino has evolved across generations, sizes, and dial variants, most notably with the 38mm Bambino introduced in 2022, which meets modern preferences for compact, versatile watches. Now, Orient is presenting its first-ever no-date Bambino, and simultaneously refreshing the classic date-equipped Bambino with new colours and gradient dials.

The No-Date Bambino 38, a Small Change with a Big Impact

The headline release is certainly the new Orient Bambino 38 No Date, as the Bambino abandons the function for the first time in history. The dial design restores symmetry and strengthens the dress watch appeal that made the Bambino so popular in the first place. The stainless-steel case measures 38.4mm in diameter and 12.5mm thick, with the slender lugs and domed crystal that define the collection. The dial features alternating Roman numerals and baton markers, a signature Bambino design that now looks even cleaner without the interruption of a date aperture.

Dial colours include white, ivory, green and brown, with a grey limited edition of 3,300 pieces, all executed with a restrained, classic tone. Depending on the dial colour, the hands are blue or gold-coloured. The sapphire exhibition caseback reveals the new in-house calibre F6524, an automatic movement with hacking seconds, offering a 40-hour power reserve and an ok accuracy.

New Colours for the Classic Bambino Date

Alongside the no-date models, Orient also updates the standard Bambino with a date display, housed in a larger 40.5mm case. These references feature a dial with baton indices and introduce classic white and ivory dial colours, as well as trendy gradient dial colours in green, light blue, and purple. The new Classic Bambino Date models are powered by the familiar calibre F6724, another in-house automatic movement with hacking, robust and easy to service.

Straps, Wearability and Pricing

All new Bambino models come with easy-exchange leather straps, allowing tool-free changes. Water-resistance remains at 30m, consistent with the dress watch positioning. As always, pricing remains one of the Bambino’s strongest arguments. All stainless-steel versions are priced at EUR 340, while the gold-coloured Bambino variant comes in slightly higher at EUR 370, still great value for an in-house mechanical watch.
