The Norqain Freedom 60 Chrono 40mm Bronze Edition

The brand's more compact chrono is back in a nice panda/bronze combo.

Even though it’s a relatively young brand, Norqain has demonstrated to be quite a player in the field of robust, fully equipped sports watches. With many watches powered by Kenissi-sourced manufacture movements and even innovative case constructions, there’s quite a lot to discover about the brand. Today’s release is less groundbreaking, yet it introduces a cool new watch to the collection in a style that is slowly becoming a signature for the brand. Reversed panda dial and bronze case, this is the menu for the latest edition of the Norqain Freedom 60 Chrono 40mm.

Norqain Freedom 60 Chrono 40mm Bronze Limited Edition

The Freedom 60 Chrono, Norqain’s take on the classic, slightly retro-style chronograph watch, was first released in a rather large case of 43mm… somewhat at odds with the vintage-inspired design. But things changed earlier this year with a more compact take on the watch, the Freedom 60 Chrono 40 – not per se a small watch, but a very appealing size for an automatic chronograph. With its 40mm diameter and lug-to-lug of 49mm, it hits the sweet spot for a sporty yet comfortable, daily-oriented chronograph watch. The height of 14.9mm isn’t on the thin side, but that’s to expect when you combine a Valjoux-based movement and an ultra-domed crystal.

Now that we’ve seen the dimensions, time to talk about the specificities regarding this new Norqain Freedom 60 Chrono 40mm Bronze. Well, first, the obvious: the bronze case. Mixing satin-finished surfaces and polished accents, the case is made of bronze – a stabilized alloy, to be precise. It retains all the great features of the classic steel version, including a screw-down crown, sapphire crystals on both sides, and a comfortable water-resistance of 100 metres. The signature plate on the left side is still present and can be customized.

The other new feature is the dial, which is presented here in a cool reversed panda style. The base is sunray-brushed black with contrasting white sub-counters. The applied markers and hands are bronze and filled with Old Radium Superluminova. There’s a date at 4:30, but it’s well-integrated with a tone-on-tone disc. Inside the case, no surprises, as it’s a reliable movement, a Valjoux 7753 chronograph.

As often with Norqain, the Freedom 60 Chrono 40mm Bronze can be ordered on a variety of straps, including a rubber Perlon in black, a recycled Tide strap in grey or white, or a brown Alcantara option. This new model is a limited edition of 200 pieces, with prices starting from EUR 3,750.
