The Nomos Tangente Neomatik Update 41 For Wempe

An ice-blue dial radiates a cool summery vibe from what is one of Nomos' freshest watches.

With the much-awaited summer season right around the corner, many of us tend to lean towards a more refreshing colour palette in our watches. In the first half of this year, we have seen plenty of fun and exciting new tones of colour being used, with a few shades that really stood out to us. One such colour is ice blue, which always looks amazing when done right. This is exactly what renowned retailer Wempe must have thought for one of its latest collaborations; the sub-zero cool Nomos Tangente Neomatik Update 41 for Wempe Signature Collection.

The Tangente Neomatik Update 41 stands out for its sleek and minimalistic style but with a little twist à la Nomos. Set in a slim 41mm stainless steel case, which tops out at just 7.9mm in height, it features signature straight and angled lugs. The very narrow bezel results in a watch that looks larger than it actually is, a clever little visual trick. Naturally, a sapphire crystal covers it all, with a second sapphire crystal around the back putting the movement on display.

The key element of this special edition for Wempe is that ice-blue dial. This is a colour popularized by watches like the Royal Oak and the PRX and has been gaining traction more and more. The light blue tone of the dial is offset with blued hands and black indices and numerals to provide a welcome touch of contrast. The darker blue colour is also found on the date complication, which ’embraces’ each date through cutout sections in between the date digits.

The reason for the very thin case can be found on the inside. Instead of building the date complication vertically, Nomos’ patented mechanism in the Calibre DUW 6101 moves the date disc outside of the outer edge of the movement. This results in a slimmer construction, and thus a slimmer watch. The date can also be adjusted in both directions through the crown, making for an effortless adjustment if needed. Furthermore, when fully wound by hand, it can store 42 hours of power reserve.

The Nomos Tangente Neomatik Update 41 for Wempe is worn on a blue-black textile strap with a stainless steel pin buckle. This cool ice-blue edition is limited to 200 pieces, all exclusively sold through Wempe’s showrooms for a price of EUR 3,400 incl. VAT.
