The new Swatch x Blancpain Scuba Fifty Fathoms Pink Ocean is… Very Pink

Basically, it is as pink as it can be!

Following a rather unmanageable success with the Moonswatch collaboration with Omega, Swatch did it again in 2023 with yet another brand from the group – this time Blancpain – and with another emblematic watch – the Fifty Fathoms. The result, an accessible Bioceramic watch inspired by Blancpain’s famous dive watch, came with an automatic movement this time – which certainly made it more appropriate for us at MONOCHROME. Following the first 5 editions and an appealing all-black model, it’s now the total opposite that Swatch drops; a pink-to-the-max version, the new Swatch x Blancpain Scuba Fifty Fathoms Pink Ocean.

Following the inaugural collection of 2023, the Swatch x Blancpain Bioceramic Scuba Fifty Fathoms was presented in two other editions. There was first the all-black Ocean Of Storms in January 2024. Recently, the brand also released a turquoise edition named Blue Lagoon – which surprisingly didn’t gather much attention. But wait until you see the brand’s latest drop… Because that one is sure to make some noise. You want a pink watch? Well, here you’ll be served my friends, as it is arguably the most pink (adult-oriented) watch we’ve seen in recent history. Even the Oris ProPilot X Miss Piggy Edition plays on the safe side next to this new Scuba Fifty Fathoms Pink Ocean.

So what do we have here…? Pink, a lot of pink, pink everywhere. While the basics of the Swatch x Blancpain Scuba Fifty Fathoms remain untouched, the watch has been pinked all around, starting with its 42.3mm Bioceramic case, in a fairly saturated tone of pink – almost magenta – also found on the bezel’s frame, the crown and the caseback. A lighter tone of pink has been used for the bezel’s insert, a resin insert injected with Super-LumiNova and a 60-minute scale done in – you’ve guessed – a darker tone of pink. For the rest, not evolution. The case still replicates the shape of the Blancpain FF, with Swatch embossed on the flank, a push-pull crown, a bio-sourced crystal on top, a second one on the back and a water-resistance of 91 metres (or 50 fathoms).

For this Scuba Fifty Fathoms Pink Ocean, Swatch opted for the classic configuration with Arabic numerals and date. The base of the dial is light gradient pink with a grainy texture. The applied hour markers, the hands, the logos and the multiple lines of text are all done in dark pink. Even the date disc is pink. I’m almost disappointed that the lume is not done in pink… At least, you’ll have a striped pink NATO strap made from recycled fishing nets, with pink Bioceramic pin buckle and loops.

Under the hood, no technical changes. The watch is still powered by the mechanical Sistem51 movement, an industrially-produced automatic movement that cannot be serviced or repaired, but replaced. It beats at a rate of 21,600vph and delivers a respectable 90h of power reserve. The full-sized rotor is decorated with pink-hued water and the Ceratodoris rosacea nudibranch printings.

Available as of February 1st from selected Swatch stores and not limited, the new Swatch x Blancpain Scuba Fifty Fathoms Pink Ocean will be priced, like other models, at EUR 400 or CHF 375. For more details, please visit Swatch.com.
