The new “Polar” Tudor Black Bay Pro GMT with White Opaline Dial

The classic exploration GMT watch of Tudor gets the Polar treatment.

| By Denis Peshkov | 2 min read |

In 2022, we went as far as to consider the Tudor Black Bay Pro GMT the best tool watch we have seen that year, impressed by its cool design, ultra-robust construction and fair price. A perfect adventure watch, solid and legible, with a GMT complication for travellers – a do-it-all, wear-it-everywhere. This year, this Tudor model that does bear some resemblance to the Explorer II gets a polar dial, and that’s the news.

The new version comes in the same 39mm case as the earlier reference, crafted from stainless steel with polished and satin-finished surfaces, waterproof to 200m, with a 24-hour fixed bezel, satin-brushed. The screw-down crown bears the Tudor rose logo, the domed sapphire crystal tops the case and the caseback is solid.

The domed opaline dial features applied ceramic hour indices with a black outline, filled with Super-LumiNova, with the triangle marking 12 o’clock. The treatment extends to the snowflake hands for the local time and seconds, while the GMT hand to indicate the reference time is in yellow. As the earlier model, the polar dial Black Bay Pro is a real GMT watch, so the local time hand jumps in one-hour increments, either backwards or forwards. The date, displayed in the aperture at 3 o’clock, is coupled with the local time hand.

The movement is the automatic manufacture Calibre MT5652 made with Kenissi, chronometer-certified by COSC and fitted with an anti-magnetic silicon hairspring with the variable inertia balance held in place by a transversal bridge. The movement operates at 28,800 vibrations/hour and delivers up to 70 hours of power reserve when fully wound.

As often with Tudor, the watch has a few bracelet and strap options. The stainless steel bracelet with the classic riveted profile is entirely brushed on flat surfaces. It features a folding clasp fitted with the T-fit micro-adjustment system (extension up to 8mm in five positions. The new Black Bay Pro is also available with a hybrid strap in black rubber and fabric with a folding clasp or a black-and-yellow Jacquard fabric strap made by Julien Faure in France.

The price is CHF 4,050 for the bracelet and CHF 3,750 for the strap. For more details, please visit www.tudorwatch.com.

  1. I hoped for a lower profile and metas cert. This would be awesome.
