Abraham-Louis Perrelet made his mark in watchmaking history with his work on automatic winding. The modern Perrelet brand is recognised for its patented Double Rotor and Turbine watches, which feature hypnotic spinning rotors on the dial. Much less theatrical, Perrelet’s Weekend collection offers more traditional dress watches in 39mm cases with a subtle retro vibe. The new Weekend Malachite, the first model in the collection to feature a stone dial, follows the ongoing trend of hardstone dials and adds some flair to the wrist.

Available with time-and-date functions, GMT, and open-heart configurations, Perrelet’s Weekend adopts a more traditional design featuring round stainless steel cases, a slim 9.56mm profile, and a comfortable 7-link steel bracelet with a folding clasp. Water-resistant to 50 metres, the case is fitted with an anti-reflective sapphire crystal over the dial, a see-through display caseback, and is finished with brushed and polished surfaces.

Thanks to the slim bezel, the malachite dial takes centre stage, showcasing its alternating bands of light and dark green veining and ensuring each dial is unique. The slender, applied rhodium-plated indices with double batons at noon, 3, 6, and 9 o’clock, along with the faceted dauphine-style hands, contrast elegantly against the green background. The silver-framed date window at 3 o’clock displays black Arabic numerals on a white background.

The Weekend time-and-date model is powered by the Soprod automatic calibre P-321, a renamed version of the movement maker’s calibre A10 – which makes sense given that both companies are part of the Festina Group, owned by Spanish entrepreneur Miguel Rodriguez. Revealed on the caseback, the openworked rotor is mounted on ball bearings and delivers energy to the mainspring for a power reserve of 42 hours, and the balance wheel beats at a 4Hz frequency.

Delivered with an ergonomic steel bracelet featuring alternating polished and satin-brushed links, alongside a more elegant green leather strap with an alligator pattern and a pin buckle, the quick-release system enables easy swapping of the bracelet and strap, allowing a transition from a more sporty, practical steel bracelet to a dressier, more refined leather strap. Available from authorised Perrelet retailers worldwide and the brand’s e-commerce platform, the Weekend Malachite retails for CHF / EUR 1,590. More information at perrelet.com.
