The launch of the Aikon collection a few years ago marked a turning point for Maurice Lacroix, completely reinvigorating the brand. Since it was introduced, this accessible automatic luxury sports watch with an integrated bracelet has been presented as the perfect companion for an urban, active lifestyle. The collection continues its exploration of urban worlds with the Aikon Urban Tribe version, a limited edition to celebrate the brand’s partnership with Simon Nogueira, a parkour and freerunning specialist known for running across the rooftops of Paris and other cities.
Based on the 42mm steel Automatic version, the Maurice Lacroix Aikon Urban Tribe limited edition stands out with its stainless steel case and bracelet, fully engraved with patterns reminiscent of Maori tattoos. Lines and curves adorn the surfaces of the watch, engaging with light and delivering great tactility. Certainly polarizing but also rather unique.
The Maurice Lacroix Aikon Urban Tribe is equipped with the collection’s traditional black sunray-brushed Clous de Paris dial with luminescent hour and minute hands, a central sweep seconds hand and a date indication at 3 o’clock. It is powered by the ML 115 automatic calibre. Based on the Sellita SW 200-1, this precise and trustworthy movement runs at 4Hz and has 38 hours of autonomy when fully wound. Turning the watch over, it is visible via the exhibition caseback. For the occasion, the rotor has been engraved with a pattern matching the decoration of the case and bracelet.
The integrated stainless steel bracelet is fitted with the Maurice Lacroix Aikon easy-change system that allows you to swap your bracelet with a rubber or a leather strap in seconds with no tools. It is secured by a triple-folding clasp released by a pair of pushers.
The Maurice Lacroix Aikon Urban Tribe is released in a limited edition of 500 watches and is now available from the brand’s online boutique for pre-order. The price is set at EUR 1,990.
