The New Longines Spirit Bucherer BLUE Watches

Bucherer's modern take on Longines' pilot's watch.

| By Brice Goulard | 2 min read |

In addition to being the world’s largest watch retailer, Bucherer is also known for its in-house collection of special edition watches, all focused around the brand’s signature colour, blue. Dubbed Bucherer BLUE, this now impressive collection gathers attractive models that are, in certain proportions, using blue to create unique versions of existing watches. Now, it is time for the winged hourglass to be part of the family, with the new (and rather modern) Longines Spirit Bucherer BLUE Watches, in time-only and chronograph versions.

The recipe with the Bucherer BLUE collection is usually to have a rather large amount of blue on the dial, strap or even the case… but not always. This year’s take on the Longines Spirit collection is proving that Bucherer can be creative when it comes to make its own watches. And even though blue will be found on these watches, it isn’t the dominant colour.

The idea of Bucherer was to give Longines’ latest pilot’s collection, the Spirit (which we’ve presented here and explored later in green or in titanium), a much more contemporary attire. As a reminder, the Spirit is a collection of classic watches with characteristic Longines and aviation design cues, but this vintage-inspired line is not a re-edition and was created from scratch to celebrate this rich heritage. It has been presented in time-and-date, with 40mm and 42mm cases, as well as in 42mm chronograph version. And Longines Spirit Bucherer BLUE Watches are built around the chronograph and the smaller 3-hand models.

What changes drastically is the use of black DLC coating on the case, combined with a matte black dial with blue accents. Both are worn on a black textile strap with blue stitching. And importantly, both watches now have a no-date display, which changes drastically the layout and symmetry of the watch.

The Longines Spirit 40mm Bucherer BLUE

The first model in this Longines Spirit Bucherer BLUE collection is based on the three-hand model with a 40mm diameter. Inside its blacked-out case is the brand’s proprietary calibre L888.4, a COSC-certified automatic movement with 72h power reserve and silicon balance spring with antimagnetic properties.

This Longines Spirit 40mm Bucherer BLUE will be available exclusively from Bucherer boutiques, yet not limited in production. Price will be EUR 2,700 or CHF 2,700.

The Longines Spirit Chronograph Bucherer BLUE

The second model in the Longines Spirit Bucherer BLUE collection is built around the larger, bolder chronograph version, with a 42mm case. Inside its black case is the calibre L688.4, a proprietary automatic column-wheel chronograph movement with COSC certification, an antimagnetic silicon hairspring and 66h power reserve.

The Longines Spirit Chronograph Bucherer BLUE will be available exclusively from Bucherer boutiques, yet not limited in production. Price will be EUR 3,510 or CHF 3,500.

  1. Lots of mention of “time and date” here, which rather obscures the fact that the 40mm option is actually a no date model (as is the 42mm of course), which for me makes it a significantly more attractive option.

  3. With that blue, I wish the dial was just the right shade of grey ! Maybe down the road ?
