The New Laco Edition 97 Bronze Pilot’s Watch
The watchmaker from Pforzheim has announced a new watch to complete the 100-year mission.
Pforzheim-based watchmaker Laco is best known for creating large military observation watches supplied to German pilots in the 1940s. In 2020 the company announced that it would release a special edition watch every year until it turns 100 years in 2025. Each special edition is designated to highlight a specific element that has defined the company’s image. In 2020, Edition 95 was released to commemorate Laco’s history of producing precise naval watches. In 2021, Edition 96 took inspiration from the Laco Scorpion models that include contemporary, outdoor-adventure-focused tactical sports watches. This year, the Laco Edition 97 celebrates the brand’s historic B-Uhren watches.
The new Laco Edition 97 pays tribute to the B-Uhren that made this company famous. With its unmistakable B-Uhr Baumuster B-style dial, the hours are displayed in an inner circle and the oversized minutes on the outer ring. The Arabic numerals and indices are partially coated with “Old Radium” Super-LumiNova. A dark green dial perfectly matches the 42mm matte bronze case, and the distressed leather strap with a bronze pin buckle completes the vintage flair.
However, the watch offered in this limited edition of 97 pieces is not a tool watch for pilots or wannabee pilots anymore; it is a model for those yearning for the look and feel of the past with a cool-looking pilot’s watch. The Laco Edition 97 employs a reliable Sellita SW200-based automatic movement to keep track of time.
The new Laco Edition 97 will be sold in a gift case with a limited-edition pin and will be available from mid-December for EUR 1,490. For more, please visit www.laco.de.

I’ve always liked the look of these.
They need a big hand wound movement, however, imho.
