The New Glashütte Original Seventies Chronograph Panorama Date “Watermelon” and “Swimming Pool” Limited Editions
Sink your teeth or dive right in and enjoy, no matter the choice.
Glashütte Original continues its recent tradition by introducing two vibrant models to its Seventies Chronograph Panorama Date series. This time, the collection is energised with quintessential summer vibes, featuring dials in eye-catching coral red and turquoise. The retro charm of the Seventies, which defines the collection while encompassing the benefits of modern-day technology, is yet again paired with an unmistakable summer spirit, and we’re excited to showcase these fresh timepieces.
The Glashütte Original Seventies Chronograph Panorama Date features a polished and satin-brushed case that measures 40mm by 40mm, with a height of 14.1mm and a lug-to-lug distance of 46.4mm. Thanks to its distinctive TV-shaped design, the case appears more prominent than a typical 40mm round case, offering extraordinary wrist presence, especially when paired with the stainless steel bracelet – something we have learned via a hands-on experience with the 2023 models. The rounded, rectangular chronograph pushers are positioned alongside the protector for the screw-down crown. A corrector for adjusting the Panorama Date is subtly placed on the left side of the mid-case, near the 10 o’clock mark. The dial is safeguarded by a sapphire crystal with an anti-reflective coating on both sides, and the exhibition caseback provides a view of the movement. The case construction ensures a water-resistance of 100 meters.
The vibrant “Swimming Pool” and “Watermelon” dials of the Glashütte Original Seventies Chronograph Panorama Date are achieved through the application of matte blue or red lacquer. The azuré sub-dials – positioned at 3 o’clock for the 30-minute chronograph counter, which also integrates a power reserve indicator, and at 9 o’clock for the running seconds – are accentuated by black rings. The backgrounds of the 12-hour counter above the centre and the signature Panorama Date at 6 o’clock are also rendered in black, and both apertures are stepped. The black sub-register rings add a sporty edge to the new models, setting them apart from the designs of the 2022 Seventies Chronograph Panorama Date “Disco Blue” and “Vibing Orange”, as well as the 2021 “Sunny Yellow.”
In keeping with the series, the indices are slim, baton-shaped appliqués with a black coating and Super-LumiNova fill, while the dauphine-style central hour and minute hands echo the same design. The chronograph’s central seconds hand features a GO counterweight, and the black-printed minutes and seconds track along the dial’s periphery is sharply detailed, ensuring clear readability. It is marked with Super-LumiNova dots positioned next to indices at 5-minute intervals.
As expected, the new Glashütte Original Seventies Chronograph Panorama Date models are powered by the automatic column-wheel flyback chronograph calibre 37-02, offering a robust 70-hour power reserve. This movement features a silicon balance spring and operates at a frequency of 28,800 vibrations/hour. The movement is beautifully decorated with the signature Glashütte three-quarter plate adorned with a striped finish, polished steel components, bevelled and polished edges, blued screws, and a skeletonised rotor with the double-G symbol and a 21-carat gold oscillation weight.
The “Watermelon” and “Swimming Pool” editions of the Glashütte Original Seventies Chronograph Panorama Date are limited to 100 pieces each. They come with a black rubber strap with a folding clasp or a metal bracelet with a fine adjustment mechanism. The pricing is EUR 15,900 for the rubber strap version and EUR 17,100 for the bracelet version. As of publication, these limited editions were still available for purchase.

Euro 1,200 for the bracelet? That must be a misprint.
